maynardmom's Full Review: LG WM0642H Front Load Washer
I bought an LG WM0642H Front Load washer from Home Depot. Initially, I liked the ease of use of the control panel and, of course, the water and energy efficiency. My clothes spun almost dry, which makes the dryer more efficient.
However, after using this washer for seven weeks, the control panel fried - it was literally smoking. Now, I understand that this can happen with electronics, and if they fail, they generally fail within the first few months of usage. However, the warranty service offered through LG has convinced me never to buy anything by LG again. First, they only offer warranty repair through their "approved" service providers. For the west metro Boston area, this was exactly one company, and exactly one repair person within that company able to service LGs. No appointments for one week. It then took LG eight days to send them the part, and I am now waiting another week for them to install it. I received no apologies from LG, and they made no attempts to secure additional service provider.
If you do buy this from Home Depot, I would suggest getting the additional service pack which, had I done so, would have saved me from having to deal directly with LG. But I would buy something else instead.
