We bought the 60" LG model in Dec. 2006 and it has been down 3 times with major problems. The display went black after 3 1/2 months of use, 5 circuit boards were replaced, by a tech from Best Buy. 2 months the later the display went black again, and 7 boards were replaced, again by a tech from BB and when the unit was powered up it ran for about a minute, made a noise, smoked and went black. So, six months into the purchase and 2 down periods and one more now. Talked to LG customer service people and they say even if a replacement is approved it will take six to eight weeks to be delivered, whereas, when we bought it it took less than a week for delivery. Originally bought this after reading reports in Consumer Reports magazine. After buying, read a new report there saying there were quality problems and have also read the same in the business press.
LG reported a loss from operations in their most recent financial quarter and it appears this is effecting the quality of their products.
Bottom line: would not recommend and no more LG products in this household.
