I recently bought a Rumor 2 with an extension of my Sprint service.
I highly recommend the phone. I am relatively new to texting or other phone-email/web/etc. services, though I have used a cell phone almost since they were invented, for talking.
The full four-line keyboard on the Rumor-2 is great for people who are used to typing on a regular QWERTY keyboard, and the fact that the top line is numbers-only, leads to much more facile text entry.
The screen has sharp, color resolution, and the interface is intuitive and complete. The contacts and alerts are well designed. In the contacts, you can put in many numbers and then classify each as whichever (work, mobile, fax, etc.) you choose. (Some other phones have the drawback that you can't store more than one number with the same label.)
The alerts inform you right away (first home-location of cursor) if you have any unseen messages, voicemails, etc.
Applications and downloads appear under "my stuff," which took a second to realize but then seemed sensible.
The phone has capacity for a mini memory card, but does not come with the card. You do need it for things like watching TV.
Typing emails and texts and IMs was effortless, and I recommend downloading Opera Mini as a web-browser because it works much more smoothly than the default Sprint windows browser. You can use any of several common email applications, and can IM under AIM, Yahoo, and Microsoft. You cannot gtalk, however.
The phone is a good size - big enough for all of its features without feeling crowded, and small and sleek enough for a pocket or small purse compartment.
The regular charger works fine and comes with the phone; you have to purchase separately a car charger and/or headset (2.5mm) if desired.
Voice quality is adequate, though volume had to be raised relative to other Sprint phone experience.
All in all, I am highly satisfied, particularly having coupled this phone with a Spring "Everything" plan.
