jurgrace's Full Review: LOOney tunes set of 18 Mini ornaments
Sometimes we can sympathize with others' mistakes, and other times we can't help but laugh at them. When the Looney Tunes set of 18 Mini Ornaments that my husband ordered from a school fundraiser arrived in our home, I chose to do the latter. Those ornaments were so tiny, I didn't see how they could do anything to dress up our tree. Apparently, my other half missed the word "mini" in the product title and thought he was getting a deal on these guys (at a price of five or six bucks, I think). After eight years with the Looney Tunes Mini Ornaments, I can't say I would ever buy these again, but I definitely think they have served a purpose with us.
Inside a near flat, 3" x 5" box of Looney Tunes set of 18 Mini Ornaments, you will find 18 little heads of Looney Tunes characters, three each of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Lola (Bugs' gal pal), and the Tazmanian Devil. Each ornament is about a square half inch in size, and is made of a clay-like substance. Unlike most of my Hallmark ornaments, these guys each have a shimmery gold thread looping out of the top of their heads for hanging on the tree.
In finding a use for the Looney Tunes Mini Ornaments, we got kind of lucky for a few years. The first year we had them, we weren't going to be home for Christmas, so my husband bought a tiny rosemary tree to serve as our Christmas tree, and the Looney Tunes family was the perfect amount and size of ornament for an 18" tree. After that, we somehow ended up with a 12" 'tree' made of sticks in our possession that my husband wouldn't let me get rid of, so we hung the Looney Tunes Minis off the various sticks, making the tree look cute and festive during the holiday season.
Now that our kids are at the perfect age to accidentally destroy the 12" stick tree, we keep that hidden and have to put the Looney Tunes Mini Ornaments on our regular, 6-7' tree. Personally, I think they are a failure there. They are so lightweight that balance isn't a consideration; they just hang from the tree without moving. In fact, you don't even really have to hang the loop over the branches, as the shimmery string will just stick on the fir needles. The problem is that visibility is extremely low with these guys, especially if placed near a bulb on the string of lights. The Looney Tunes Minis just kind of fade into the tree.
Final Thoughts I've got to give these ornaments credit for one thing: they appear to be durable. While their clay-like material certainly looks breakable, more than one of these Minis has been dropped on our hardwood floor with nary a crack left behind.
Overall, though, I can't rationalize buying the Looney Tunes Mini Ornaments for a regular sized Christmas tree, unless you want to play games of "where's Daffy?" If you like to decorate your home with a miniature tree, however, one package of Looney Tunes set of 18 Mini Ornaments should be all you need to decorate the tree.
