Written: Feb 10, 2006
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Evens out skin tones, tans skin quickly and evenly. GREAT PRODUCT!
Cons:Does not contain sunscreen.
The Bottom Line: Great moisturizing and natural tan in just 2 days!

I recently spotted a new product at the store and with my bout with the wintertime blues, I simply couldn't resist this purchase. What was it? It is a new self tanner called L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer for Medium Skin Tones. I have been using this product for a week now and can only say that the popular Jergens Daily Moisturizer will have a contender for sales this year.

L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer For Medium Skin Tones

L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer comes packaged in a 12 fl. oz. gold tube with a picture of a naked lady minus her head and face on the front. It is available in both a Fair formula for light skin tones and Medium for medium skin tones. I chose the Medium since this will match my skin better. I paid $8.99 at Walmart for this product.

Sunless tanning has been popular for the last 10 years and just last year these products took on a new form and added daily moisturizing to the base, giving you a sunless tan and a daily moisturizer all in one. L'Oreal has introduced a new product designed to do do exactly that, give you a daily moisturizer and also enhance your natural skin tone by darkening your skin gradually each day for a natural looking tan.

L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer contains essential and rich moisturizing ingredients such as mango butter, sweet almond oil and Vitamin E.

Promises, Promises, Promises

L'Oreal claims that with regular and daily use, your skin will be silky, soft and radiantly moisturized. The natural skin tone enhancers will even out your skin tone in just a couple of days leaving you with a healthy glow from head to toe!

Directions

L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer should be applied evenly to clean and dried skin. It is best to exfoliate your skin prior to applying any lotion and sunless tanning lotion is no exception. It makes the application more effective enabling the lotion to sink into your skin and not have to go through dead skin cells first. Wash hands with soap after applying lotion or you will have stained palms in a few hours.

You should also let this lotion dry before putting on your clothes. I find that I only have to run around naked for about 5 minutes before this is completely dry. For best results, use every day.

My Experience With Sublime Glow

I had used the popular Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer last year and loved the way it performed but the Medium formula did not leave my skin quite dark enough. It did enhance my skin and was great from going to no tan to a natural tan but it wasn't a full tan coverage and color. I purchased L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer in hopes that it would perform better than the Jergens and it met my expectations 100%.

L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer has a faint sweet almond scent. It is very faint and not noticeable after applying the moisturizer. I found that this lotion did not streak at all, although I did rub it in very good and evenly. If this isn't done, you may experience some streaking. I also found that L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer is not greasy either. As I stated earlier, it dries fairly quickly and you can dress about 5 minutes after applying the lotion.

I used this product twice on my first day. I applied the moisturizer first thing in the morning and again after my shower that night. I didn't notice much of a change through the day but that evening I could see my skin taking on a modest glow. The next morning I was totally surprised to see a light and even tan. It looked very natural and was even. Wow! I was very excited to see these results so quickly. Compared to using Jergens Natural Glow these results came much quicker. It took 3-4 days to get this effect using the Jergens. Day three brought an even deeper skin tone that left my skin tanned and glowing. Hey, where is summer? I'm ready for it now and have a head start on my tan!

L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer does a good job of moisturizing also. I love the fact that it isn't greasy and leaves my skin just as soft as if I had just applied The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter.

I have continued using L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer daily. My skin has evened out and is maintaining a pretty and healthy looking tan. The color is deeper and darker than what I got previously with Jergens and I am totally satisfied.

I was first disappointed to see that L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer did not come in a Dark formula. My plan was to use a bottle of the Medium first and move to the Dark. However, unlike Jergens Natural Glow, L'Oreal Sublime Glow gets the job done with the Medium formula.

The only downside I see to this product is that is does not contain any sunscreen. If this was added it would be 100% perfect.

Recommendation

I highly recommend L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer. I found it to work better and faster than it's competitor, Jergens Natural Glow. I think this product lives up to it's claims 100%. If you were disappointed in the Jergens Natural Glow or want to try something better.... L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer is the one to choose. I give L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer 5 Stars (even without the sunscreen!)
