I had the chance to thoroughly try out this LUSH Fresh Face mask when Epinions member, Njchicaa took a trip to the local LUSH store and shared with me. LUSH only sells their BIO-Fresh masks in their brick & mortar stores since they are made with fresh ingredients.

About LUSH A Crash Course in Skincare
A Crash Course in Skincare is a bio-fresh face mask that sells for around $10 for approximately 6-10 masks (or so, depending how thick you apply it). The product has a shelf life of around 3 weeks so once you purchase it you need to not only keep it in your refrigerator but plan to use it all up or toss it out. A Crash Course in Skincare is formulated for all skintypes and is made to soothe and calm your skin. The main ingredients are yogurt, avocado, kaolin clay, sandalwood, lavender, chamomile, lemon juice and lemongrass oils.

My Experience

The first thing I noticed about LUSH A Crash Course in Skincare was its smooth consistency. I liked that it didn't contain chunky ingredients like the seaweed in BB Seaweed because those tend to make application and cleanup more 'work'. And, compared to the Cupcake mask from LUSH this one is about 100 times thinner. Crash Course (for short) is more the consistency of BB Seaweed without the seaweed - it reminds me of dip.

The product itself is a greenish, greyish, putty color that dries to almost white in about 10 minutes. I applied it in varying thickness to see which was most effective and actually preferred it when I put on a very thin layer because the results were the same and that meant I could get more uses and speed up both the drying time and the rinse off time too! Still, by far this is the easiest to use LUSH mask that I have tried. Unlike others where I felt the need to step immediately into the shower this one I could rinse right off at the sink with a washcloth. Because of this I found myself applying it more and even used it on back to back days before my 1/2 a mask "portion" was all gone. I think I used it like 6 or 7 times in a 2 week (or so) period.

So, since this mask passed my 'put on' and 'take off' tests - what about the in between?

Well, for starters the smell of this is very refreshing and clean. In the container it smelled mostly botanical to me but then on my face I can really smell the fresh lemon scent which I'm a big fan of. I can also smell a little bit of the yogurt but its not offensive smelling at all.

When I wash this mask off my face it feels fresh and clean and not irritated in the slightest. Crash Course wasn't a cure-all for blemished areas, but what really is besides time? My skin can't make up its mind if it wants to be oily and blemished or dry and sensitive - which is very frustrating. This mask did a good job at not irritating or drying me out nor did it cause any more blemishes to surfaces (thank goodness!).

So far this is the fresh mask that I really like from LUSH and would definitely consider purchasing it again!!
