Last Christmas I received a wrapped gift from LUSH that contained a Candy Cane Bubble Bar. I havent had tons of good luck with bubble bars but I loved the way this one smelled so I crossed fingers on both hands, jumped into the tub and gave it a try. And Im so glad I did! Its a winner.
Whats a bubble bar?
Bubble bars are bubble bath but in solid form. The consistency of most bubble bars is kind of like really stiff cookie dough. You just crumble part or all of the bubble bar under running water and its supposed to create a tub full of bubbles just like liquid bubble bath would. A few of the bubble bars Ive tried were too hard to crumble but Candy Cane bubble bar was nice and soft and very easy to crumble.
About Candy Cane Bubble Bar
Candy Cane is described by LUSH as follows: Candy Cane is sweet as candy and twice as bubbly. Making another popular comeback, our pink and white swirled stick of solid bubble bath brings froth and fragrant bubbles to your tub. It adds the soothing scent of vanilla to any Christmas stocking and makes your skin likably soft. Let's just repeat the annual warning: Do not eat it!
Candy Cane bubble bar weighs 3.5 ounces and retails for $5.95 at LUSH stores or at LUSH.com. It is a seasonal product though and available only during the winter holidays. The bar is Barbie pink and white in color and slightly twisted like a candy cane.
My experience
Candy Cane bubble bar was not exactly what I expected. The reason I had not used it in the past is because I figured it would be minty like an actual candy cane. While there is nothing wrong with that, mint is not my favorite scent in the shower. The name of this product is a bit misleading, however, as the scent could not be further from that of an actual candy cane.
For those of you who are familiar with LUSH, it smells a lot like Rock Star soap or Snow Fairy shower gel. For those of you who have not been sucked into the wild, wonderful, weird world of LUSH, Candy Cane smells like super sweet candy. The closest thing I can compare it to would be cotton candy, bubble gum, cherries, and vanilla.
I generally use only part of a bubble bar when I take a bath but I was feeling blue the day I used my Candy Cane bubble bar so I used the whole thing. It crumbled easily under the running water and immediately turned the water a nice deep shade of pink. It also scented the air with its creamy candy fragrance. In order to maximize bubble formation I crumble the bar right after I plug up the tub and then swish my legs back and forth a bit to create more bubbles. Candy Cane bubble bar works pretty good for me. Not as good as a high quality liquid bubble bath, but much better than most of the LUSH bubble bars Ive tried. It produced a good amount of fragrant bubbles that lasted for the duration of my bath. It also softened the water very much which felt good on my skin while I soaked.
Ingredients
Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Titanium Dioxide, Cocamide DEA, Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), D&C Red No. 33.
Bottom Line
Candy Cane Bubble Bar worked really well for me and I enjoyed using it. I will definitely buy it again if LUSH chooses to bring it back during the next holiday season. It is one of their bubble bars that I had very good results with and I adore the scent.
