| hawknoah's Full Review: LUSH Cosmetics Each Peach Massage Bar |
Lush Products
My wife and I are big fans of Lush. We discovered it in Scotland years ago, as we were able to smell the wonderful scents coming from the store from down the block. Next we saw the stores on our trips to Toronto and ultimately word got out because they started opening local stores as well. While some of their products work better than others, I like the overall concept and enjoy browsing all the great smelling and interesting products at the store.
Lush Massage Bars
One of Lush's many fun, unusual line of products is their massage bars. These look sort of like soaps, but if you mistakenly used them as soap, you would be quite confused. You simply rub the bars in your hands to heat them up a little and then they start to melt just slightly and you can then use them on your partner (or yourself), leaving behind a scented, penetrating oil on their skin all ready to be massaged. I suppose the massage bars could double as body moisturizers as well.
Use/Needs
My wife likes to get massages, she has chronic muscle aches in her shoulders and back so I help her out best I can. I'm not trained in massage at all, but I seem to have learned what feels good to her and helps her feel better. Occasionally I am the lucky recipient of a back massage from her as well. Massage oil, lotions that are pliable, or one of these bars is definitely a must as dry massages just don't seem to do the trick.
Scent
Each Peach is the best smelling massage bar I've found from Lush, and they have many good ones. I wouldn't identify the smell as exclusively peach, but rather a tangy, fruity aroma that really carries and lingers (a good thing, in this case).
Usage
The Each Peach bar is probably about 3 inches by 5 with circular edges. It is flat on the bottom and has bumpy designs on the top, which probably give the recipient of a massage a different sensation than using the flat edge. Either side slides around effortlessly after warming the bar in your hands for a couple seconds. It leaves a great sheen of massage oil with just one pass over the body. The bar is light tan/yellow in color and goes on clear and does not leave sparkles behind like some of the Lush products do.
Experience
The oil really penetrates and feels great. What's more, the scent is out of this world and really seems to enliven the senses. Some of the other massage bars are overly dry or crumbly (particularly after they've been used a few times), but this one seems to stay new longer. The Lush massage bars tend to be big enough that they "expire" (like most Lush products do) before we can finish them, but I'm guessing that won't be the case with this bar-- not because it's small at all, but because we like using it so much and it smells so great.
Value
At $8, this is a bit of a treat, but still a decent value considering how unique the item is and how much use you get out of it. Be sure to store it in a zip lock baggy to keep it fresh and so it doesn't rub off on anything and leave oils behind or dull its scent. This seems to be a seasonal item, so it can't be found at any Lush at any time necessarily.
