I have naturally curly hair that can often be hard to tame. Over the years I have tried a variety of products. I have even gone so far as to have my hair chemically straightened! I am always on the look out for new hair gels and when LUSH came out with three of them, I knew I had try them!

The Details
LUSH Goth Juice Styling Gel comes in the standard black LUSH tub. The lid screws off to reveal one of the funkiest colored styling gels I have ever used! It's a deep shimmery purple color! It has the consistency of a thick gelatin cream. It literally wiggles in the tub when you shake it! However, when you start applying it, the texture changes to a thin gel that absorbs quickly into the hair.
LUSH formulated Goth Juice as a moderate hold styling gel. As with all LUSH products, Goth Juice contains nearly all natural ingredients including fresh lemon juice, hemp oil and flaxseed oil.
The scent of Goth Juice is totally different from any gel I have tried. It's supposed to be a combination of oakmoss (hence the oakmoss absolute) and olibanum scent. The combination of those two is not just unique, but really soothing and earthy. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do, but, I have to admit, I really enjoy sniffing my hair when I use this! If you prefer fruity or floral scents, then you might not like this one. It's definitely different. This scent also has major staying power, my hair will hold it all day and night!
My Experience
When I opened up my tub of Goth Juice I was shocked by the color and texture. It's definitely different! What I really love about this product though is the perfect amount of hold, shine and softness it gives my curls.
I usually use two quarter sized amounts and work through my damp curls. As I mentioned earlier in my review, the texture of this gel changes when you start applying it. It's hard to describe, but, it seems to turn thinner and immediately absorbs into the hair. The first time I used it I ended up using too much because I couldn't tell whether I had used enough! It doesn't take much to provide my hair with plenty of hold.
This moderate hold gel gives my hair enough hold without being super crunchy like some other gels will. My curls always look defined and free of frizz. That's one of the greatest thing about this product - it controls frizz wonderfully! Even in the horrible Georgia humidity, this product keeps my hair from turning into a huge puff ball. My hair feels incredibly soft to the touch and the shine is incredible. Since starting my LUSH hair care routine my hair has had incredible shine and softness. It's like having a brand new head of hair!
I have never had a problem with LUSH Goth Juice drying out my hair or causing any scalp irritation.
Overall
I would highly recommend LUSH Goth Juice Styling Gel. It makes my hair frizz free, soft and shiny all while defining and holding my curls.
