| snowth's Full Review: Lush Mud Flats |
When last we left our intrepid Lush reviewer (me), she had come to the sad conclusion that she was not Lush's target consumer. Not only did a large number of Lush's most popular products leave her annoyed and/or indifferent, but she had no desire to smell like marshmallows or cotton candy at all!
In continuance with this theme, I will now review a seemingly unpopular product that I really enjoyed -- Lush Mud Flats soap.
From the fine folks at Lush:
Take your skin on an exotic journey, no passport required. Made with the finest Moroccan clay to purify with deep cleansing, detoxifying sage and rosemary, and soothing rose and lavender. Your skin will thank you.
Appearance:
It's... brown. And squishy when it's fresh. I like this soap, but it has got a face only a mother could love. Luckily, it retains its shape fairly well over time, which somewhat lessens the more disturbing aspects of the soap's appearance.
Scent:
While a lot of people think that this one smells like Pledge, to me it smells almost exactly like herbal tea. Specifically, it reminds me very strongly of Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer. It's a relaxing smell to me. I say 'almost exactly' because I also get a hint of rootbeer in there for some reason. I really like the scent of this soap. It's earthy and herbal and refreshing. It's not an overpowering scent, and it won't clash with any other fragrances you would like to use.
Use:
I have skin that I will diplomatically refer to as 'confused.' Not only is it sensitive, but sometimes it's oily, sometimes it's dry, and sometimes it's both. Now, it's important to note that Mud Flats is not a 'dry skin' soap. It isn't moisturizing in the least, although isn't drying enough to irritate my sensitive skin. Mud Flats is a very refreshing, cleansing soap that will provide light exfoliation and tone your skin. It's the perfect soap to use post-workout or if you're feeling particularly grimy, because it leaves skin so clean and fresh. It also works pretty well as a facial bar, provided that your skin is on the oily side, because it will clean your pores, provide light exfoliation and tone your skin all at the same time.
Like most soaps, it's a good idea to keep Mud Flats out of water when not in use. Unlike most soaps, failing to do this will lead to your shower being decorated with unsightly brown smudges. I don't find this soap to be a fast melter, and a 3.5 oz bar of Mud Flats lasts a couple of months for me, although of course your soap mileage may vary.
Conclusions:
Probably the Lush product that I've used the most, Mud Flats is a perfect example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover
