blythiee's Full Review: L`Eau D`Issey by Issey Miyake Eau De Toilette Spra...
I am not a fragrance enthusiast, so I'm afraid I know nothing about the various notes when it comes to perfumes. I'm a layman's scent fan, so my review will reflect this and provide you with a simpler point of view on L'Eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake.
This fragrance was released a few years ago and was immediately found to be in high demand. This is still the case which is both a sign of it's excellent quality, but also a deterent because few people want to smell exactly like everyone else. The reason for the scent's popularity is it's simple versatility.
When I first applied this fragrance I noticed how fresh it smelled immediately. One of the elements I'm paranoid about when it comes to picking a fragrance is the sometimes overwhelming alcohol scent that can go along with a perfume when it is first applied. So I was delighted when it was absent from L'Eau D'Issey. I would peg this immediately as a spring/summer fragrance because it is quite light/fresh/airy and doesn't smell heavy or strong at all. At the same time, it does have some citrus and floral undertones, which keeps it very sensual and warm. This is great because I hate how some fresh smelling perfumes end up smelling more like Glade Air Freshener than something one would apply to her body.
This scent is definitely appropriate for women of all ages (I believe it would make a great and subtle first fragrance for girls in their teenage years) and can be worn casually during the day or for a fancy evening out. It's versatility is definitely a strong part of the appeal of the product.
The most obvious downside is the price. 100ml costs $108 (Canadian funds), which is steep to say the least. If I could find an alternative that had the same fresh allure for a more reasonable price, I would. Unfortunately I just haven't come across anything like it in my experience, so for the time being it looks like I'm going to be shelling out my cash for it.
Also, although I've never experienced this problem myself, I've had friends who have bought this and have had the spray mechanism on the bottle either come loose or fall off completely. These can become a great inconvenience. I suppose the bottles themselves are extra delicate, but I don't know too many people who put their fragrance bottles through much wear and tear. Keeping it in an area of your home on a shelf should prevent this from happening. Just be careful not to let the bottle fall on the ground!
