Pros:The most intensive lasting moisture for your hands
Cons:Expensive
The Bottom Line: A deep penetrating hand cream well worth the money. The moisture last a long time even with frequent hand washing.
One day I was walking with a friend in the upscale are of Bloor St. and Yonge St. in Toronto, Ontario Canada last summer and happened upon the store L'Occitane. The store is enclosed in glass windows displaying various products nicely arranged giving the store a welcoming effect as opposed to the often intimidating boutiques found in the area.
The store is pronounced " Lahxeetan " and has an excellent web site www.loccitane.com where you can order from. The website also allows for you to store a list of your favourite products for quick and easy reference in future.
L'Occitane Hand Cream:
The packaging is in an aluminum tube similar to a tube of toothpaste. The black plastic cap is flat at the end and you can stand the tube upside down when not in use as opposed to on its side. A tube contains 5.2 oz or 150 ml at a price of $26 Canadian or $19 American dollars.
Yes I was quite shocked at the price for hand cream initially but I received a free sample and was reassured it was money well spent.
The cream consists of 20% Shea Butter which is a natural intensive moisturizer. The colour is white and the scent could be described as being a fresh clean subtle scent with no harsh perfumes. The texture is smooth and the cream has the consistency of a good cold cream.
The Ingredients
Aqua, Butyrospermum Parkii/ Shea Butter, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG 100 Stearate, Polyacrylamide, Linum Usitatissimum/Linseed extract, Honey extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ceteareth 33, Hydrogenated Coconut oil, Soybean Sterol, C13-14 Isoparaffin, SD Alcohol 39-C, Chlorphenesin, Sweet Almond Extract, Laureth 7, Methylparaben, Ylang Ylang Oil, Orange Oil, Lemon Oil, Jasmine Oil, Fragrance, Rosemary Extract, Soybean Oil, Xanthan Gum.
Application:
You do not need a large quantity of cream. The size of a pea in the palm of the hand will emulsify and cover both hands thoroughly. It is not greasy and is quickly absorbed. The moisturizing properties last even after hand washing thus avoiding the need for reapplication frequently. I am a nurse who is constantly washing my hands and need extra moisture especially in the winter.
