| tiasmom's Full Review: L'oreal Airwear Long Wearing Concealer |
Now that summer is here my combination skin has turned into normal/oily skin once again. I have no more dryness and tend to get much shinier by the middle of the day. Liquid concealer is the only formulation I would use now. The creamy cover sticks are just too oily and slide right off. I have been using L’oreal Air Wear Long Wearing Concealer lately and it’s one of the best I’ve tried. It’s right up there with my Almay Amazing Lasting Concealer.
Details
Air Wear is a long wearing makeup that won’t clog pores. It’s silicone based, oil-free and non-comedogenic. It has excellent coverage and lasts all day. Just about anything can be covered with this concealer and I can do it quickly and effortlessly. Blending is so easy and it never looks heavy or unnatural. Also, it’s fragrance free.
I always apply concealer after foundation. This way it won’t slide off and I can use only what is needed, which is whatever foundation doesn’t cover. I like natural looking foundations that will even out the skin but not necessarily cover up everything, so some areas still need a concealer. The areas I use it on are some dark undereye circles, blemishes and any discolorations. I simply dot it on, blend it with my fingers and I’m done. After that I set my makeup with a dusting of powder.
It's not waterproof but being a long wearing makeup is more rub-proof and transfer resistant than most. It won't budge with normal wear.
Air Wear doesn’t dry and become difficult to blend quickly like some long wearing makeup. It gives you plenty of time for blending yet sets enough to cover immediately. The result is always perfectly natural looking and about as close to flawless as I can get.

Brightener
The colors are true and not on the dark or light side. So the light shade is not going to come out looking stark white and the medium shade is not going to come out looking dark and muddy. The Correcter shade has a yellow tone to correct ruddiness. Brightener has rosy undertones to correct dark shadows. It’s best to err on the lighter side when choosing concealer. It should never be darker than your skin under any circumstances. This wouldn’t conceal anything and would only look like a splotchy mess. It’s easier to blend a lighter shade into skin than a darker one.
Ingredients: Water, Cyclomethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Butylene Glycol, Boron Nitride, Tribehenin, SD Alcohol 40-B, Nylon-12, Dimethicone, Isododecane, Polyisobutene, Sodium Chloride, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Allantoin, Aloe Extract, Silk Powder, Cetyl Dimethicone Copolyol, Bisabolol, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Methicone, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Mica, Iron Oxides
Packaging and Price, etc.
The bottle is tapered and has a gold cap and gold writing. It contains a sponge tipped wand. The price ranges from around $6.99-$9.99. It’s a new product and I have noticed that it is not available in all stores. Even if there is a L’oreal display, Air Wear is not always on it. Online it also has a limited availability. I have only seen it at Walgreens.com where it is $8.99.
Bottom Line
This concealer even gets a positive review from the author of ‘Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me’, Paula Begoun. She gives all of her reviews either a smiley face or a frown and this one rated a smile. She’s a pretty tough person to impress but liked the consistency and ease of blending.
It definitely rates a smiley face from me. I’ve tried so many concealers and very few gives this level of coverage and this natural a look. I can put it on in the morning and not need a touch up at all until I take it off. It’s not tough to remove with regular cleansing either. I have Air Wear in my makeup case and my Almay brand in my purse. I love them both and will certainly replace the Air Wear when it’s gone. In fact, I already have once. I’m always trying new things but it might make a loyal customer out of me yet.
