Pros: gives super long lashes, darkens, some volume, lifts, very dramatic
Cons: will clump if too much is applied, takes longer to apply
The Bottom Line: L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara gives amazingly long, lush lashes but takes extra time to apply. Too much will result in clumps so easy does it.

I am a mascara collector, it seems. I just can't resist the newest mascaras although I held out longer than I expected it would before buying L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara.
I finally caved during a buy one, get one free sale and I am glad I did. I really like this mascara although it takes time to get it just right.
About the Product
The first mascara at mass with a spherical brush and smooth formula to lengthen and separate every lash. Creamy formula works with the unique patented brush to build quickly, leaving a flexible deposit of color.
Manufacturer's Info
Packaging
This mascara comes carded and the crazy pea sized ball brush is separate so you can see it through the plastic. The brush is a little spiky ball that starts out red but turns black immediately after insertion into the mascara. The tube is red with a long black screw off cap. The mascara only comes in Black and Blackest Black. I got the latter shade.
My Experience
I am usually not intimidated by mascara brushes. I have used mascara with all sorts of weird looking brushes but this one is REALLY weird looking. Like poke an eye out weird looking. The little ball brush has small spikes all around and the packaging says you can use it any way you want. That is, vertically, like a typical brush, whatever.
I hadn't read much about the results that others got with L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara so I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I did know that Givenchy started the ball brush trend with their high end mascara and L'Oreal took the ball (literally) and ran with it. I have been disappointed in L'Oreal mascaras and expected to be underwhelmed with this stuff as well. But I gave it a shot.
I used the mascara on clean, unprimed lashes. I didn't even curl them. I like to see what new mascaras can do before I use boosters. So here I was with a ball full of black goop about to try to apply it to my lashes.
Since the brush is ball shaped and small, I didn't know if I should use it vertically or try to brush it on my lashes horizontally. I ended up just trying to use the brush like a typical mascara brush and really, it wasn't at all scary or painful. However, because the brush covers such a small area, I had to do small sections of lashes and move to the next.
BUT! As I applied L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara, I saw that my lashes were getting super long and dark. Little lashes were being coated in corners where a typical mascara brush can't get to. I started to experiment with the brush, using it vertically in some areas and carefully getting to the innermost corners of my lashes.
My lashes got HUGE! They were longer than I ever saw them and they had some volume and lift. The shade is very dark and that made my already dark lashes look even deeper. I was really impressed with the mascara. But after one coat, I should have stopped. My lashes started to clump together during the second coat.
I used a lash comb and my lashes looked absolutely amazing. The next time I applied L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara, I knew to use just one coat and take my time, carefully going from section to section and not continously going over the same areas. The result is that my lashes never looked longer or more dramatic. They have volume, not tons, but some, and lift. If I use an eyelash primer with this mascara, I have almost fake looking super long, thick lashes.
I like dramatic eyelashes and that is what I get when I use L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara. I wish that it wouldn't clump my lashes together after the first coat but really, one coat is enough. I can't imagine needing more.
I was so impressed, I got my sister a tube and she likes it a lot as well. As with me, she also notices that her lashes will stick together some if she goes overboard but when she takes her time and applies the mascara carefully, her lashes look amazingly long. I was with her the other night and I could see a marked difference in the length of her already long lashes after she used L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara.
I have seen no flaking or running at all when wearing this mascara and it stays put until I take it off. I have worn contact lenses while wearing it and have had no eye irritation or any issues with my eyes.
This mascara is not waterproof but it's a bit harder to wash off than most of my usual mascaras. I can get it off with my cleanser but it takes a bit more time. It comes off fine with eye makeup remover.
This is a very dramatic mascara and probably not one that everyone will like. It takes more time to apply and gives astounding results but you really have to be careful not to go overboard or else you will end up with lashes that stick together rather than are separate. A lash combs corrects that issue but it really isn't necessary if you just use one coat and apply section by section.
I wear L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara a lot now. I don't when I just want a quick coat of mascara and to define my lashes for a casual day but I do use it when I go anywhere that matters and for night. It really is worth the extra time it takes to coat each lash. I honestly have never seen my lashes look so long and lush.
Buying Info
L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara is available at some drugstores and some mass-market stores. I have not seen it online anywhere for sale yet. It is new and maybe it will be available soon. I do know that some people have had trouble finding it offline at WalMart and Walgreens although they supposedly carry it. I bought my tubes at Rite Aid and there were plenty in stock. They were a bit over $9.00 per tube but I got one free with the purchase of one so I got a great deal on a truly different mascara.
Conclusion
L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara is not for everyone. If you like the natural look, you won't like this mascara. If you like dramatic lashes, this mascara is one of the most dramatic I have used. It does take extra time to apply because the small ball brush doesn't cover the lashes like a long regular brush but it's worth the extra time for the results. I keep the brush clump-free by wiping it off every few applications and that seems to help to keep my lashes from sticking together.
Despite the issue of clumping if I overdo the mascara, I really like it. I love how dramatic it is and how long my lashes look. I give this mascara 4 stars. Play around with the brush and find what works for you and take it slow. If you want drama, you will get it with L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara!
