Pros:Works much better than any curtain rod I have ever used. Clean and functional.
Cons:At $100 it is expensive, but well worth the money.
The Bottom Line: This curtain track is the perfect answer for all sorts of bathroom or privacy applications. A little pricey at $100, but well worth the investment.
As you may know from my previous reviews, we put an addition on our house during the summer of 2008. This included a new bathroom. Since we wanted to add a half wall at the end of the tub, we were looking for an "L" shaped or curved shower curtain rod. As a mechanical engineer, I have little faith in the usual L shaped curtain rods that mount to the wall and are cantilevered from both directions. That's just not good design process. We have a young one, and I envisioned that it wouldn't be long before she grabbed the curtain, and down would fall curtain rod, baby and all.

So, we spent weeks looking at every hardware and department store we could think of. And our search extended to the Internet as well. That's when I happened upon the Design Concepts website (see my other review of their shower curtain). They offered a flush mount roller track that mounted directly to the ceiling. This is the same style that you might find in a hospital room.
These come in either brushed aluminum or white enamel. The rollers are nylon, and the aluminum curtain hooks hang on a short beaded chain. They seem very well made, and I expect many years of service out of this curtain track.
I installed this in about an half an hour. I located a few studs in the ceiling, so this is well attached. Design Concepts also suggests that you could recess mount this in your ceiling such that it is embedded in the drywall or other ceiling material. But I would expect this to take bit of messing around to get it just right. The L-shaped track comes in two pieces with a short coupling that overlaps the joint and ensures that both sections are aligned so the rollers work properly. Hint: don't forget to put the roller hooks in before you screw the second piece of track in place.
They offer several styles of curtain tracks; straight, L-shaped track (can be right or left), curved tracks, and several others. Given some thought, there might be other places that you might use these beyond the bathroom as privacy curtains for instance. We are very happy with this, and very impressed with the quality. Check out Design Concepts. We are very happy with their shower curtain and track products and plan to use them again when we remodel our existing bathroom in a year or so.
