Pros: If they fit you, you can get this cheaply made headset for under $10 (OEM).
Cons: Short boom folds up/down only; uncomfortable. One word: junk.
The Bottom Line: "airline headphone" quality, lack of ability to position boom/microphone resulted in poor voice quality. Would only recommend this for children or others with smaller heads looking for the cheapest headset.
This product appears to be designed for people with smaller heads. The fold-down plastic boom with the microphone on it is too small/short for my face. With the earpads on my ears, the plastic boom is against my cheek, and the microphone ends up just short of the corner of my mouth, pressed against my face. The microphone is attached to the boom by a short flexible wire, and can be bent outward to get it off my face, but it doesn't pick up sound very well when this is done, as it's next to my mouth, instead of in front of it. Obviously, when it's pressed against my cheek a good .5" short of my mouth, it isn't picking up sound very well either.
It works for my 5'0" petite girlfriend, though she complained that it was uncomfortable, but is WAY too small for me (I admit, my head is largish, but one-size-fits-all hats will still typically fit me). I had to extend the headset most of the way to fit it on my head (the main headset is adjustable via the typical cheap stereo headphone way, each side pulls away from a central plastic piece).
These issues could have been avoided if the boom adjusted away or towards one's face, and adjusted to be shorter or longer to position the microphone it front of one's mouth.
Comfort:
The earpads were uncomfortable (they sat at an awkward angle on my ears, probably due to the unadjustable boom) and insufficiently padded.
Features:
Unlike more expensive headsets, this lacks a USB connector and comes with a dual-plugged cord that attaches to the analog microphone and headphone connectors on your computer. This allows the headset to be used with non-computer applications, but means a poorer quality analog connection that is more susceptible to interference/static.
Performance:
These performed adequately when used by my girlfriend, but poorly when used by me, due to the inability to position the microphone in front of my mouth.
Recommendation:
Try on a headset before you buy one; although I bought this headset for under $10, including shipping, that money was wasted because the product is useless to me. After shipping and restocking fees, and wasted time dealing with the vendor, I could hope to get back a dollar or two. Instead, I'm giving this to a coworker, so it can languish in their box of misc computer junk, rather than mine!
