So the girlfriend and I were wandering through the new Staples store that opened up downtown to squish all of the small-time office retailers who were silly enough to open up shop there decades ago. (I'm usually against supporting this kind of business, but you gotta know what you're up against, right?)
Anyway, we were talking a walk around to see what the big deal was, and I was of course drawn to the computer goodies they had on sale. It was the usual newbie Compaq computer systems and such, but the one section that managed to really catch my eye was the speaker collection.
I'm no audiophile; my hearing is probably actually pretty bad, having attended too many loud concerts. So I'm not super-picky about my speaker choice, just so long as I can hear the music, you know?
Well let me tell you, these crazy Labtec speakers really grabbed me. Besides looking way-cool (who wouldn't want to brag about a subwoofer that sits on your floor, under your computer? and those tiny little satellite speakers!) they sounded fantastic. Even in the sterile concrete and steel and annoying-salespeople surroundings of Staples, I was quite impressed by their range, and even their power.
You'll get some attention by turning these babies up real loud in your neighborhood box store, I guarantee.
To make a long story short, I asked for them for Christmas, and I sure did receive. They rock. I use them every day, and I won't be looking to replace them for some time. Check them out next time you're hanging out in Staples, trying to think of a way to bring The Man down. They're great.
