Pros: LOUD bass, cheap, headphone jack
Cons: Bass drowns out the treble in apps w/o EQ
The Bottom Line: Buy these if you want great bass at a low price, but don't expect great highs.

I owned a set of Altec Lansing speakers (ACS-33). They were good speakers, with very clear treble, but the were missing something... BASS! While true audiofiles insist on balanced bass and treble, I want only bass. And these speakers deliver. After going to Best Buy nearly every week, listening to the speakers, adjusting the bass and the tone, I found that the only ones that could beat this set in loud bass without distortion were the THX-certified ($250 and up) speakers. Not being a rich man, I opted for the MUCH cheaper Pulse 424's. They have served me well for just over a year, and I must say that, with the exception of the THX-certifieds, I have yet to hear a computer speaker system with clearer, boomier bass. Definitely buy these!
