I heard about Creatine in my Undergraduate years from a renowned body-builder in India. In India $40 is expensive when we convert it in to rupees, so I did not give it a try immediately. I was also dubious of its effects. It was just then we were attending our physiology classes as a part of our Medicine curriculum. The knowledge I derived from Physiology cleared my doubt regarding Creatine.
I was in my teens then and like any other teen I wanted to make myself attractive to the opposite sex. During my initial daily work-out at gym I used to pump iron for hours, but without any great improvement. Then I realized its not how much you work-out, but the way you work-out and the way you provide all the essential nutrients to the muscle are the things that really matter in building up of a stylish lean muscle.
So, when I heard of Creatine in my physiology text I came to know how essential it is for a working muscle. I went down to a Sports store nearby and checked with him if he had Creatine. He was selling Labrada's Creatine Monohydrate and I have been using it since then to keep myself in good-shape.
I think one should know the importance of Creatine in provision of energy to the muscle before they try out this product. The information I am going to provide you here is a collection from various physiology and pathology texts I have read during my under-graduate years.
So, What is Creatine?.Creatine is a protein that is actually present in the muscle as Creatine Phosphate. It donates it phosphate residue to another molecule called Adenosine Tri-phosphate [ATP]. A working-muscle derives its energy from this ATP molecule. ATP releases energy when it breaks down to ADP [i.e; Di-phosphate].
How does Creatine help?-We know that ATP releases energy when it loses a phosphate. For a working muscle to continuously derive energy it requires an uninterrupted supply of ATP. This uninterrupted supply of ATP is ensured by Creatine-Phosphate because Creatine phosphate donates its phosphate to ADP converting it to ATP.
It is important that we provide our muscle with adequate Creatine while we work out. Otherwise the muscle protein itself may be used up.
I have been using Labradas Creatine powder for the past four years and I found it amazing. It is available in many flavors and tastes good. Take three spoons of Creatine everyday with a glass of milk or fruit-juice. But remember that you must work-out to exhaustion in the gym after taking Creatine to appreciate an excellent result. Just taking Creatine without a proper exercise does not help.
Creatine does not build the muscle on its own.It is not even a constituent of the muscle. It is just a carrier that provides energy to the muscle fiber thus preventing it from exhaustion. This gives your muscle a boost so that it can work for longer and up to exhaustion. The longer you exercise the bigger is your muscle. You should remember that a maximum and quick result can be appreciated by exercising to exhaustion. Because it is at this point of maximum exhaustion [called as Muscle Tetany], the muscle cries out loudly " I can't do it anymore. I need more fiber" This is where the body recognizes the demand and adds bulk to you muscle.
Now, who should not use Creatine?-Patients with Kidney problems and Diabetics should keep away from Creatine. Creatine gets converted to creatinine in the body which needs to be excreted by the kidneys. So, taking excess Creatine also puts an extra burden over the Kidneys.
Diabetics usually have weak kidneys. They should get their Kidney functions checked before starting this product.
Why Labrada is preferable to other products?-First of all this is the cheapest Creatine I could find.It is also pure and it has given me good results. It tastes good too.
That is all about Creatine Pals!
Before ending I would like to remind you once again-Creatine does not build muscle. You have to work-out on your own to get a big muscle. Creatine only helps you to work-out for a longer period with out getting exhausted.
I also seriously advise you against Anabolic Steroids eg;testosterone as these seem to be giving excellent results. But they can lead to cessation of Growth-spurt and also Gynaecomastia [Male-Breast].
