Pros: The Visionary shade is perfect for my lips, doesn't feather and wears fairly well
Cons: Not moisturizing or soothing
As a member of MyPoints, I often get super offers to buy cosmetics from Lancome. Many times the Lancome specials include freebies, and that is how I was able to get a tube of their Color Design Lipstick in the Visionary color.
I am a blonde with fair skin, and at first glance the Visionary shade looked to dark for me. The color is hard to describe, but it looks like a dark raspberry in the tube, but when I apply it to my lips it actually looks great. It simply makes my lips a shade darker than their normal color, which makes this a great lipstick to wear both casually or for a night on the town.
The tube isn't anything special. It's black with a gold ring in the center where the two pieces separate. It rolls up from the bottom very smoothly, and the lipstick itself has a slanted rather than rounded tip.
Although I love this color, and I like the fact that it does fairly well at staying on my lips (it does come off slightly onto a drinking glass), I am still disappointed with how it makes my lips feel. It is not as nourishing and soothing as some lipsticks I have used. This is a sheen lipstick, and although it is toned down from a shimmer, it still gives my lips a slightly glossy look.
Overall I am disappointed in the Lancome Color Design Lipstick. This retails for $22.00, and although I got it as a gift with purchase, I expected more for a high end lipstick. It didn't feather or bleed on me, but it didn't leave my lips feeling soft and smooth either.
I really like the pigmentation of the Visionary color, it is in the same color family of my own lips, and I have a hard time finding lipsticks that compliment me but are subtle. I guess I'd have to give this lipstick a mediocre three stars because I love the shade so much.
