Tresor by Lancome: a Too Sweet Fragrance

I love perfume counters at the department store. There is seldom a time I know I'm going to the mall that I will put on perfume, because I always want to try something new. Imagine my delight, however, when my aunt arrived for a visit and her cosmetics kit included several small samplers of perfume along with a big bottle of Tresor by Lancome.
Tresor came out in 1990. It was meant to be a romantic, evening fragrance. An awful lot of older women I know seem to use it as their signature fragrance.
I never liked Tresor much on other people, but when I became aware of it, it was always so heavy that I felt myself drowning in the aroma. I thought perhaps a lighter hand would help. I decided to give it a try. Big mistake! After half an hour of waiting for it to mature, I not only had to wash it off, I had to change my clothes because the too sweet smell have crept into everything I was wearing.
The primary things one smells with Tresor are floral and fruit. The floral notes include rose, lily of the valley, lilac and iris. The fruit notes include an apricot-peachy scent. I am told there is also some notes of vanilla and amber. I can't pick them out, and I usually have a pretty good nose for individual aromas.
A 1.0 ounce spray bottle of Tresor costs about $33. A 1.7 ounce spray bottle costs about $43. I didn't think anything could make someone smell more like an old woman than Estee Lauder's Youth Dew, but this perfume has done it. I recommend avoiding it.
