| tankerjo's Full Review: Landice L7 |
We have owned our Landice L7 Pro Trainer treadmill for nearly 14 months now. Purchased new in Oct 2004. Have waited to see how it worked out before making any comments on it.
Prior to our Landice purchase we have/had owned 3 other treadmills over the past 10 years. Our Proform went to the dump where it belonged. Our Smooth 5.0 was donated to my sister after I finally gave up on Smooth and repaired it myself and our Keys "Encore" is sitting covered up in storage, a victim of to many squeaks, breakdowns and perhaps just to much use. All 3 treadmills were the sub $1,100 folding type of treadmill. Well the Proform was way South of the $1,100 figure.
In choosing the Landice we wanted a no frills treadmill that would/should run forever. To comply with Landices absurd warranty requirements we had the choice of only 1 dealer (50 miles away) who sold their product within the mileage boundaries that they allowed so as to honor their warranty.
While testing the Landice at the dealer I was tempted to opt for a different brand. The Bodyguard brand treadmill with the 22" wide walking belt and a great 3 year in home warranty almost got my $$$'s but the wife insisted we purchase the Landice. We bought a year-end model and paid $2,645.00 delivered and set up.
Like I said we wanted a basic treadmill, non fold-up type that could support a lot of use and weight, one that was fairly quiet, had a aluminum frame, reversible deck, heavy duty rollers, 4 ply belt, powerful motor and for the most part be maintenance free. The Landice Pro Trainer has to this point turned out to be just the treadmill we were looking for. Their are no bells or whistles on this model but it seems to just keep going and going and to date it has been problem free.
As of Dec 2005 we have logged nearly 900 hours on the treadmill and other than some tracking problems with the walking belt we have encountered no other problems. We found ourselves having to adjust the walking belt quite a few times the 1st couple of months but since that time even that minor problem seems to have vanished. I wouldn't say the Landice is the quietest treadmill we have seen but we have it set up in a 10x10 room which is a heck of a lot different than the large open space that we tested it in.
Overall we are very happy with our treadmill. When your talking 3 grand for a treadmill their are lots of choices, options and extras so this stripped down model may not suit everyones needs. I just wanted to give an opinion as someone who has owned one for a while instead of the 1st blush out of the crate it's 2 weeks old and it's really great type of review.
October 23, 2006.
Our treadmill bit the dust and quit working. I'm thinking it may be an electrical problem but awaiting a service tech. Won't run...comes on, counts down and then indicates L-5 on the read-out and will not run. Called Landice who let me know my labor warranty was kaput (like I didn't know that already) and gave me a number for someone to come out and look at it. It's been 3 weeks and they are coming tomorrow. $125 minimum and of course without a doubt they will have to order parts (covered by warranty) and return to install them, more $$$'s. Up to 3 weeks ago the treadmill had operated great. 2 years old, approx. 1300 hours on it so maybe things could be worse.
Anyone who buys any type of treadmill should take notice and see if the treadmill regardless of who makes it has someone near enough to service it. We live about 50 miles from the nearest Tech. At least years ago with my unfriendly Proform treadmill Sears could always have someone out in a matter of a couple days to repair it. And that was good since it broke down enough that the service Tech and I got to know each other on a 1st name basis.
Lessons learned.
Well it's Nov. 9th and no parts yet. Service tech said he'd order them after he visited on the 24th of October. Sort of sucks as it now looks like my treadmill will be down and out of operational condition for 2 months.
More lessons learned.
