| JKportland's Full Review: Lands' End Deluxe Diaper Bag |
I got the Land's End deluxe diaper bag as a gift. This bag is wonderful for parents who want to always be prepared when going out with baby. This diaper bag holds everything and then some! I have the green colored bag. I believe they come in blue and tan also. Here's what features it has:
~Bottle pockets with elastic: There are two in front and two inside. The elastic holds the bottles in place really well. They also hold juice boxes well. My older daughter likes for me to put her snacks in these pockets for easy access. When you are holding baby and the bag and a stroller and your purse and..you get the idea, being able to get to things your kids constantly ask for easily is a huge help!!!
~A front zippered pocket for mom to store mom's important items in (or dad's of course!): I put my keys in there (there's a key holder inside the bag too) and a small wallet fits nicely in there. Sometimes I just put my important things in the bag and leave my purse at home. The less to carry the better!
~A nicely sized changing pad: This pad is soft and padded nicely and is plenty big for my 25 pound son. It cleans very easily as well. I like to carry antibiotic wipes with me to clean it up quickly. Both sides of the pad can be used.
~A smaller travel bag that folds out is inside: This bag is wonderful!! It folds down the middle and has a clear plastic cover so you can see what's inside. This is great to take on trips. I put emergency items on one side like bandages, cotton balls, Neosporin, baby Tylenol, etc. and on the other side I usually put a change of clothes for baby. The bag has Velcro closures.
~Mesh pockets inside: Helpful so you can see what's in there easily!
~Straps: Two smaller straps to carry the bag by hand, and one larger strap so it can be carried on your shoulder. The strap is adjustable and is wide and comfortable to wear. I did have to limit the amount I put in there, though, because this bag overstuffed can hurt your shoulders! One problem with the bag is it is quite large and won't fit well in a basket under the stroller. I usually put the large strap around the handles of the stroller but you really need to be careful if you do this since it can make the stroller topheavy. Make your strong, macho husband carry it. That's a better idea!
~It is made of very strong, durable material: I have had this bag for a while now and it has gone through a beating and it is still in fantastic shape. Land's End is known for making excellent quality merchandise. Their clothes last forever and their diaper bags are no different. My son likes to drag the bag around across the floor, and pull everything out of the pockets. It has survived his roughness with flying colors. It has made several airplane trips and still looks great. It also keeps things dry if you happen to get stuck in a sudden rainstorm. In Portland, this is quite handy!
~Once baby is out of diapers this bag can still be used: The one nice thing about this bag is that it does not look like a diaper bag. It can be used as a carry on bag when traveling. A lot of diaper bags have cute little cartoon characters or baby shapes on them so they can't really be used by an adult later on. I have used this bag for myself when traveling and no one would even notice that it's a diaper bag.
~Plenty of room for EVERYTHING: I like to be prepared. I think if we were to be caught in a snowstorm for a month I'd have everything baby would need in the diaper bag. I keep bottles, one empty bottle, packets of powdered formula, plenty of wipes, changes of clothes, emergency supplies, snacks, toys, a baby blanket, my keys and wallet, diaper pad, antibacterial wipes, tissues, powder, lotion, Desitin, and of course plenty of DIAPERS!!
Even though this diaper bag may be a little more expensive, it is well worth it. You really do get what you pay for! This bag could even be used for more than one child. I don't know of many diaper bags that can do that. It was one of the best gifts I received and I think it would make a wonderful shower gift for any mom-to-be.
