Mmmm, yummy... I love these bars. Let's face it: There are a LOT of bars out there these days to choose from, and most of them are at least halfway decent. But LaraBars Cherry Pie are a real treat. I had a whole box of them and wanted to write a review and before I knew it, they had disappeared! But then I found one more in the box when I thought it was empty, so voila! When you bite into one of these Cherry Pie bars, you can really taste the cherries! So delicious. I am excited by the fact that these are also a healthy snack. These LaraBar Cherry Pie Bar have 190 calories, but they are healthy calories, not just empty calories. They also count as one fruit serving, just as a banana or an apple would. The ingredients list is quite short with a mere three items on it: Dates, Almonds and Unsweetened Cherries. It doesn't get much more simple (or more scrumptious) than that.

These bars are easy to grab when you are on the go. They are great for snacks or in school lunches. They pack a punch because you are eating fruit and nuts. I feel my hunger pangs go away and also feel energized after eating one. I love to have one of these as a mid-morning or mid-afternoon pick me up at work, for example, when I sometimes feel like taking a nap (and can't).

The LaraBar Cherry Pie Bar is very dense and chewy. I always take small bites because of the denseness of the bar. I also take small bites to savor and enjoy the cherry taste in every bite. They are chewy and slightly crunchy because of the almond bits. The shape is like other bars, in that it is rectangular, but the taste is so unique! Cherries certainly are a nice change from raisins.

This is the "original fruit and nut food bar".

This company also makes an Apple Pie Bar, Banana Cookie Bar, Cashew Cookie Bar and has just introduced a Pistachio Bar and a Key Lime Bar. I've tried and enjoy the Apple Pie Bar, but the Cherry Pie is thus far, my favorite.

I purchased these at my local Food Coop for approximately $26.99 for 16 bars, which means they cost around $1.68 each. I've got to stop by there soon and pick up another box of one of my favorite snacks!
