Pros:Works well. Creates a strong air flow. Fairly quiet.
The Bottom Line: Great fan. Good for living room or bedroom. Small floor space needed. Saves on air conditioning bills.
I bought this fan at the beginning of this summer. I don't like using the air conditioning in my apartment for several reasons. Expense is one, but, maybe more importantly, the cold from the AC sometimes bothers my joints and gives me headaches. I prefer the open window approach as long as the temps aren't too extreme and the humidity is not unbearable.

This is a tower fan, so it stands neatly in a corner or any part of the room and takes very little floor space.
The fan is very dark gray in color, with brown woodgrain vinyl finish on the face with a chrome trim ring around the fan louvers.
A small set of controls at the top control the power, speed, oscillating motion, timer and Ion modes.
A remote control also does the same functions as above.
This fan is pretty tall, about 3 1/2 feet, and slightly thicker than some tower design fans.
There is a small adjustable louver in the top front which helps direct air current to a small extent.
This Lasko fan is fairly quiet. In the evening, when your tv is turned down low, this fan may cause you to raise the volume of your tv just a bit, but not much. It depends on the speed. Obviously, at higher speeds, the fan is a bit louder.
However, this fan is no where near as loud as some standard standing fans. And, at the lowest speed, it is pretty quiet indeed.
This fan really cools off the room. When used in conjunction with the AC, the air is cooled down quite a bit and you may be able to get away with not setting the AC temp so low, as I do to save on my electric bill.
When it is not terribly hot and humid, I use the fan alone and it cools pretty well.
On the other hand, I'm not a picky person about such things.
The remote works when the unit is facing you. However, if the unit is oscillating, you sometimes have to wait for it to turn and face you before you can remotely change its settings.
I haven't tried the Ion mode, so I don't really know much about it.
The timer works ok. There is no digital time display. Just some L.E.D.s which indicate it is on, anywhere from about a 1/2 hour to approx 4 hours. The unit beeps once just prior to turning itself off in timer mode.
I really like this fan. It looks good in the living room. I used it all summer long. I only used my AC for about 1-2 weeks this summer, which was nice, and more than paid for this fan many times over. Maybe next year I'll get another for my bedroom.
