Pros: ***Lightweight ***Slim Design ***3 Speeds ***Oscillates
Cons: haven't found one con yet from using this model
We dont have central air or a window air conditioner unit in every room of the house here so we depend on using portable fans when needed. For the rooms where the window air conditioners dont blow cold air directly into we use our portable Lasko 4910 Desk Fan to help circulate the cool air from the window units.
Its portable and doesnt take up much space so it can be placed on any table top, night stand, kitchen counter or on your work desk. Its only 13 1/2 inches tall 6 inches wide and 6 inches deep. Weighs under 5 pounds. Behind the top fan is an insert that you can use as a handle to pick the fan up and move it. The cord measures 6 feet long. If color is a factor in your decision to buy, this model comes in Gray only.
**** One note of caution I read is: on the bottom the plastic tabs that are like feet on this unit may stick to furniture surfaces or hardwood floors. That they could leave a blemish on the finish of certain furniture surfaces. This HAS NOT happened to our furniture during the times we have used this model.
The Lasko Model 4910 has 3 Speeds: Low, Medium and High. Located on the front of the tower on the base is the press button to control the speeds. Press the power button once to turn it on, it is set on High as soon as you turn it on. For a medium speed press the power button twice and for a low speed simply press it a third time. To turn it off press the power button 4 times and you will see the light go off.
This Model also oscillates on all three speeds. Next to the ON button is Oscillation button. Press it once and the fan will oscillate back and forth. Press it twice and it stops. The oscillation function will work with the top half of the fan facing any direction that you want to set it at by holding the base and bottom, then turn the top to whatever direction you want it oscillate to. The bottom half will still face forward but it will also oscillates back and forth to give your area more circulation.
The Lasko 4910 wont cool off an entire large room by itself but it will give you some relief as it circulates the cool air from its towers. I have one sitting on the end table in the living room right now and it is 83 degrees outside.
Instead of running the air conditioner unit I have the Lasko 4910 on. It is cooling the room enough to where the kids can sit in comfort on the recliner across the room and on the sofa on the other side of the living room and still feel the cool air from both of the fans on this tower fan. I have it set on oscillation with the top half facing the recliner and the bottom is facing the sofa. When I walk into the living room I can definitely feel the difference. Its Not COLD in there like a meat locker but it is comfortable enough to bear the 80 degree weather outside.
The fan is not loud enough to distract you from what you are doing if you have it sitting on your desk or table top. Its compact enough to use in every room of your home or office for added air circulation.
To maintain it, it is recommended that you use a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove any dust or lint that may get inside the fan. Use can wipe the body of the fan with a soft dry cloth.
For an inexpensive portable fan, I would recommend checking out the Lasko 4910 Wind Tower fan. Comes with a 1 year warranty ... So far Its working great for our needs.
My daughter purchased 2 of them at Wal-mart for $14.87 each. One I have in the kitchen on the counter and the other is in the living room right now. She bought one especially for her computer desk, but that one seems to end up on the end table in the living room most often.
5 Stars with out a doubt on the slim design, air circulation speeds, oscillating function and the satisfaction from the performance. My final recommendation is this Model Lasko 4910 is perfect for any office and home use.
