...at work because of all the equations, etc. we use here and a LaTex book would be a very welcome help to those of us that use LaTex. Good review!

I never heard anybody on this side of the Atlantic refer to it as Lah-tech, but that's an aside. I do agree with what you wrote about Lamport's book, though coming to LaTeX after hacking Plain TeX was such a relief that I would have forgiven almost anything.
