| 4rhodes's Full Review: Burt's Bees Lavender Complexion Mist Normal Skin |
I recently read a great review of the Burt's Bee's Facial Mists. Being the cosmetic junkie I am, I ran down to my local health food superstore (Bread & Circus in the Boston area) to see this product for myself. I instantly fell in love with the smell and calming effect this product had on me.
Of course, there were none in stock! This meant that I absolutely had to have it. Amazing thing about supply and demand. Luckily there is another health food superstore in my area (Wild Oats) and the product was on the shelf!
I use a complexion mist during the summer as a pick me up product. I usually keep a small bottle of Evian or Origins Sprinkler System mist in my medicine cabinet. I use these products when it is really hot and humid outside and want something to cool me down a bit. The Evian mist is pure water, the Origins Sprinkler System feels like pure water and has rose, geranium and coriander infusions added. When I apply these to my skin, it feels slightly wet, like walking through a fine mist sprinkler.
So, why did I buy the Burt's Lavender Complexion Mist? Mainly because of the smell and the inexpensive price ($5.99).
Why am I in love with the product? I've used this product three times a day for the last four days. The mist is finer and feels more gentle when applied to my skin. I don't feel as wet as I do after using the other products.
I am in winter at the moment and the oils of lavender, cedar and bergamot in the Burt's product have kept my skin hydrated. I just performed a test of the three products using my arms as the guinea pigs. I sprayed two pumps of product on my left arm and slightly rubbed them in with my fingers. The Burt's product absorbed into my skin fastest, leaving it soft and smooth. My fingers felt emollient. (I did wipe my fingers on a wet face cloth between each product test). I followed the same procedure with the Sprinkler System and Evian. My arms stayed wetter longer. The Origins product did absorb faster than the Evian. The Origins product has a better aroma, but both did not leave my arm noticeably softer or silkier.
How to use the product? Hold the bottle 6-10 inches away from your face. Shake product. Point the nozzle opening directly at your face. Close your eyes and depress the nozzle three or four times. Take a deep breath, notice the nice aroma, open your eyes.
When and why will I use this product? I will use this product first thing in the morning, right out of the shower. By the time I towel myself off, apply moisturizer to my body and brush my teeth, I sometimes get a tight feeling on my face. I insist on keeping my facial moisturizer in my bedroom (I read somewhere that the less temperature change moisturizer is subjected to, the longer it lasts - hey, I could be wrong on this, but for now, I'll keep my routine!), so, the mist will alleviate the tight feeling on my face. I know I'll use the mist when I get home from work, especially after I've given the boys their baths before bed. Then, I'll use it again between my nightly face washing and moisturizer.
I will use the product because I like the smell, moisturizing and the calming effect of lavender.
The Mist can also be used at work or at school. You can leave a bottle of it in your desk/locker and spray during the day when you need a little lift. I tend to get tired at 3:00 pm. This is a great un-sugar pick me up. I would also leave this in my bag to carry around when I'm travelling. While flying, this product will help keep the skin looking good. For kids? I don't know. Of course mine have already asked for and received a spritz or two (they also get a spritz of the Evian and from my plant mister whenever I'm working on the plants) of the Burt's. Just be careful to make sure they close their eyes!
Hey, next time you are in your local health food store or boutique, spray a little on your face. It smells wonderful! The cost was $5.99 for 4 ounces. I have purchased 3 bottles of Evian mist for $12.00 (4oz). I have never purchased the Sprinkler System by Origins, I keep getting it as either a gift with purchase or inside a holiday gift package.
This product can also be purchased at Drugstore.com.
Have fun!
