We recently moved and the front landscape was already in but it needed some color spots.  Our plans is to put a landscape bridge in that we built but we do not have any time this year to prepare the front yard for this as we will make a dry creek bed with river rocks as well.  My husband thought of a wishing well where I can put flowers in the well inside and the bucket to place by our bare corner near the front door as well as I planted some color trees and bushes.

About the Well

The well comes unassembled and the measurements are 42" high x 25" wide x 23" depth.  The working bucket on a rope measures 8" in diameter x 6" high.  There is no bottom to the well.  It is solid light in color wood construction and took about 35 minutes to put together.

How We Use It

There is a corner of the front of the house with concrete that needed something colorful so there it sits with 3 different types of flowers making it a wonderful color spot.  I used a big black plastic bucket that a tree came in from the garden center and put 2 different types of flowers in it and took the wishing well bucket and place a smaller bucket in it after my husband drilled a hole in the bottom for water drainage and put another type of flower in it.  I then placed the bucket on the ground next to the well so it gives great color.  If you get small enough flowers you could leave the bucket above the well as it does wind up and down with the handle and rope.  This gives you lots of options of how you want to handle it for your home.

Our new neighborhood is very competitive and everyone wants to keep up and outdo each other so a few days later we noticed flowerpots and different things to put flowers in popping up all over.  We have owned the home for a year and the neighborhood did do this last year so obviously it must look good for others to want to do something like it.  They just don't know where I got it or else I'm sure they would be popping up all over. 

With this well, since it is light in weight, you can just lift up the well and move the flowers indoors in the winter if you live in a snowy state like I do or make sure you buy flowers that can withstand the temperature which I did so they should pop out again next year after this flowering year is over.

I love my little wishing well and when I am outside I get many compliments.
