Pros:Easy, No skill needed, All Ages, Great Party Game
Cons:Doesn't come with enough chips for a large group
The Bottom Line: Run up to the store and buy a set before your next holiday party. Get the whole family involved in a fun and easy game.
Seriously, all ages can play this game. You could even teach a toddler it is so simple. I first heard of Left, Center, Right when a family member brought it to a holiday party. We have since played it at almost all of our holiday parties and at parties with friends. It's a great party game because an unlimited number of people can play and the game can go for a long time or a short time depending on your luck.

Each person starts out sitting around a table with 3 chips each. In my family we use Quarters or Dollars depending on how many games we plan to play. Quarters are good if you want to play a lot of games so people don't go broke. Dollars are good if you only want to play one or two games and you have a large group because then the winner really makes out! For kids you could use candy or snacks, as long as you tell them they can't eat it til the end :)
Each of the 3 dice has an L, R and C on it with dots on the remaining sides. All you have to do is roll the dice! When it is your turn, roll all 3 dice. If an L comes up, pass one of your chips or quarters to the person on the left. If an R comes up, pass it to the right. If a C comes up you put it in the bowl in the center of the table. When a dot comes up you do nothing. Pass the dice to the next player and continue! You only roll one dice for each chip you have - so if you are down to 1 chip, you only roll one dice. Maximum 3 dice per turn. So if you have 4 or more chips, you are definitely safe for that turn!
The goal is to be the last person with any chips or quarters left. You can see how quickly your luck can change with a game like this. I don't know if this is an official rule, but the way we usually play if you run out of chips, you aren't out! You can still sit in your seat and wait because the player next to you might roll three L's and suddenly you are back in the game!
We have made up various variations based on what we felt like doing that day. For example, if there are a large number of players (say 10 or more) we may say that once you lose all your chips you are out and can't get back in the game. That way play keeps moving along instead of a bunch of people who keep getting back into the game after they were just out.
When we have few players, say about 4, we will often add another twist to make game play longer. Such as if you roll a dot you get to take a chip out of the pot. Or you could say you have to roll 2 dots or 3 dots in order to get a chip out of the pot. This way players that were knocked out have another chance to get back in.
This is a wonderful party game for all ages and all you really need is 3 dice! You could technically even make it yourself by writing an L, R and C on 3 dice. However it's cheap enough to buy the real dice just to make it easy to read and not worry about the letters rubbing off as you play. Not that many chips come in the set, that's why it's good to use quarters or if you don't want to gamble you could even use pennies. Everyone has something lying around the house they could use for chips! This game takes no skill and only a few minutes to explain to a whole group of people, so try it out at your next party. Enjoy!
