Pros: good lemon flavor, chicken very tender and filling, not bad in fat & calories
Cons: rice rather bland, could use more sauce, high sodium
The Bottom Line: If you're a fan of lemon flavored chicken, I think you'll be pleased with the protein side of this entree from Lean Cuisine.

| AliventiAsylum's Full Review: Lean Cuisine Lemon Chicken |
One thing that I really like is chicken in lemon sauce. When I was younger there was a local restaurant that had the best chicken francaise and chicken or veal piccata was also a favorite dish of mine. This was why I thought I would like the Lemon Chicken entree from Lean Cuisine.
Lemon Chicken is an entree in the Spa Cuisine Classics line. The frozen entree contains nine ounces of food. It consists of a lightly breaded chicken breast with rib meat in lemon glaze with brown rice risotto. There are some vegetables mixed in with the rice. Heating it up takes 4 1/2 minutes in microwave. The depiction on the box is a pretty fair representation of what’s inside, although it’s photographed on a small plate to give the illusion of there being more food inside.
My first impression was not good. I couldn’t believe this was all the chicken that came with the entree. The chicken patty was smaller than the size of my fist and thin. To my surprise, there was another one underneath it! I felt better when I saw that. The chicken broke apart easily with a fork and there was no need to use a knife. The lemon flavor was not overwhelming, and actually pretty subtle compared to other lemon dishes I've had. The chicken did taste fine and was tender.
The rice had pieces of broccoli and red pepper mixed with it. There wasn't a tremendous amount, but it was a nice accent as well as adding to the flavor. Otherwise, the rice was pretty bland. I found there was a little more lemon flavor after I stirred the sauce into it. In this regard, having more sauce would have helped a lot. Nutritionally, this entree contains 300 calories, 80 of which are from fat. That comes to 9g of fat or 14% of the recommended daily value. Of that, 2g are saturated fat or 8% of the recommended daily value. Like other frozen entrees, this is pretty high in sodium with 550mg of sodium representing 23% of the recommended daily value.
I did like the Lemon Chicken from Lean Cuisine and would likely have it again. I wasn’t impressed with the rice, but the chicken was great and there was enough of it to fill me. I love the lemon flavor and just wish there was a bit more sauce for the rice or they did something else to add to the flavor. Overall, this is a pretty tasty entree that comes in fairly well nutritionally as well. For those of us who are trying to watch what we eat, it’s a great alternative to fast food.
