notjustamom's Full Review: LeapFrog Learn and Groove Musical Table
Before my daughter could even pull up, this was one of her favorite toys! We have the older version (with the green trim) but it is basically the same product. When she was just learning to sit unassisted, we would take the legs off of this table so that she could see it from the ground. It gave her great incentive to lean forward and try to crawl. She often tried to crawl right over it to get to all the buttons. Once she as able to pull up, we went back and for with the legs for a while - good thing they are so easy to take off and put back on! It is not a sturdy table to pull up on, but it does pretty well once she was standing. I really kind of like that it wasnt that sturdy because I think it helped her to work on her balance and control since she wasn't able to completely rely on the toy. There were quite a few times in the process that she would end up with the table falling down with her!
Now that she is just over a year old and is a confident cruiser and beginning to become a confident walker, she still loves this toy! We rotate it out with another of her larger toys so it stays "new" and interesting and she is always excited to see it return. She has learned to work all of the features - pushing buttons, turning pages, and sliding knobs. Once again, leapfrog makes a product she loves!
Pros
- Legs attach and detach easily - This is great so you can put it flat on the floor when they are younger.
- Lots of activities - There are lots of different things to keep baby's interest and then turn the page and there is a whole new set of sounds!
- Songs and sounds that aren't too annoying! - Face it, kids toys are annoying. They all have songs that you can now hear in your sleep, but as far as annoying kids songs go, these are really pretty good! They get in your head, but, in my opinion, they aren't mind-numbing like some other toys I've heard.
- Counting & ABC's - Can you ever hear the ABC song too many times when you have yet to learn the alphabet?
- Just music - You can turn the page to get just music rather than the ABC's and 1,2,3's.
Cons
- Not extremely sturdy for baby to learn to pull up. Several times, my daughter toppled over - table and all! She was never hurt and I think it really helped her to learn balance while pulling up. I don't really think of this as too much of a negative, but if you have to put it in either pro or con...it's a con.
Overall, this is a great toy! It has lots of things to keep baby's attention but is not too overly stimulating. Even as she grows, she still loves this toy!
