| thebigstick's Full Review: Leap Frog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Set |
If you're like me you always forget to watch where you're walking when the kids are around. I know where they are, sure, but their toys are like land mines strategically placed around the house that I set off on an hourly basis. We try to limit the number of rooms that get filled with debris, kitchen included. The last thing you want is to slip on a toy with a pot of hot water.
That's why I love this magnet set. It's a fun toy, and the magnets are strong and durable enough to keep the darn things where they belong, on the fridge.
It's a simple enough toy, a complete set of capital letters big enough for a small child to handle easily and brightly coloured to add a little stimulation. There's a docking station where the child puts the letter, and it's held in place by another magnet. Pushing the letter plays a little song that repeats the letter and the sound it makes three times. There's also a switch on the docking station that plays the entire alphabet song.
The letters are light and easy to handle, and there's no sharp edges. The docking station is a little big but the magnets are strong enough to keep it from getting knocked off all the time.
The sound quality is as good as you can expect from something small like this. Sometimes the pronunciations are a little difficult to hear, and as the batteries wear down it gets worse, but it's no different than any other toy on the market, and a far cry from the monotone toys from my youth.
Overall it's a great toy, and your child will have something fun to play with while you're working away in the kitchen
