| melissabear's Full Review: Leap Frog Learning Friends Baby Tad |
From head to toe Baby Tad is covered in buttons that make him do everything from kissy sounds to playing classical-sounding music, to singing, to teaching shapes and colors.
On the up side, there is potential for learning. I've caught my son a few times sitting down trying out all the different buttons. I think there are a few games Tad plays, such as trying to get the child to follow the lead, by lighting up a combination of shapes. Tads voice is clear, and not too irritating and he sings enough songs to keep boredom at bay for at least a little while.
Aside from the slightly hard board on his tummy, Tad is covered in soft cloth in vibrant colors. His huge eyes are also cloth, so there is no worry for choking.
All of Tads electrical parts are neatly tucked inside, and closed with Velcro. Since the Velcro is evenly matched on both sides, Tad stays soft all the way around.
He comes already set up with batteries, but you will eventually need to change them and he takes 3 standard AAs.
On the downside, our Tad has gotten quite dirty and I have yet to figure out how to clean him up nicely. I'm afraid to do anything more than spot clean him with water, which doesn't really seem to work anyway.
The only other downside to Tad is how creepy he sounds when the batteries start to go down. All that warped singing can get really freaky.
