| adburch's Full Review: Leap Frog My First LeapPad |
My two year old enjoys this toy a lot. And unlike the regular leap pad, where there have been a few books that were not favorites, all the my first leap pad books have been enjoyed (we have all of them). It took my two-year-old a little while to really get the hang of the book (at the time he was few months shy of two) but now he's a pro. He still needs a bit of help changing the cartridge, but he's still a bit young. My only complaint is that there is no headphone jack like there is for the full-size leap pad. We fly from Japan to the States about every eight months (for any one who's done it trans-pacific flights are LONG) and in order to not disturb the other passengers we have to keep the volume so quiet he can hardly hear it. The other leap pad has a headphone jack, so that isn't a problem. All in all this has been a great toy. I'm not sure if I would really call it educational, but I would definitely recommend it, ESPECIALLY if you are thinking about traveling (via car, plane, or other transportation) where the child will be cooped up for an extended period of time.
My only word of caution- if the port for the cartridges gets dirty or fingerprints the cartridges will give you trouble- but the customer service from the company is wonderful, and they quickly gave me easy instructions on how to clean it.
