Pros: Educational and with the additional books it makes the learning endless.
Cons: Hard to store - books come out easily - mechanical problems.
The Bottom Line: There is nothing on the market like this product for easily teaching your child the basics. It never gets old with the additional cartridges.

My daughter didn't quite know what to do with this when I bought it for her second birthday. It is a great computer-like system that you insert a book into the front and a cartridge into the side and your child can learn about all the preschool basics.
The toy was marketed for three-year-olds and up but I thought, "Well, she is advanced for her age." We worked on it a little each day and before long she was soaring with it.
It was hard for both of us to remember how to use it sometimes. There is a pen that is attached to it that you have to use to touch each of the answers. We both forget and touch the answers with our fingers. Also it is hard to remember to touch a green circle whenever you turn the page. This is what let's the computer know what page you are on. But for a little one - it is easy to get ahead of themselve's and just start in on the activity without pressing the circle.
Now, approaching her third birthday, she uses it by herself and has learned so much from the books. They also release the books at a nice pace... It seems that we are just fully learning one of the new books and a couple more are released. Not so many new ones as to be overwhelming for my daughter and my wallet, but just enough for the next special occasion.
There are a couple technical kinks in the system. When you start acquiring so many cartridges and books, it is hard to keep them together. We put all of ours in a bag but it makes me nervous to hear those cartridges clanking around down there. I just wish they had a secure storage system for them.
Also the books easily get pulled out and that is a little hard when my little girl wants to play this and her little brother is around. With a light tug the book goes flying across the room.
We have had some minor mechanical problems with the system though, sometimes it will just turn off while we are working on it and sometimes the disks will say that it is not a Leapfrog cartridge when it is.
But aside from that, it is worth the minor annoyance based on the knowledge it has made available for my little one.
