webword's Full Review: Leatherman Tool Leatherman Micra Multitool
I was looking for gifts for the guys in my wedding party a few years ago. I wanted something cool and useful. I looked and looked and looked, but couldn't find anything worth buying. Then, I found the Leatherman Micra.
Perhaps you have heard of the Leatherman multi-function tool. If you have, this is a small version of that tool (with some important changes). If have not, here's the bottom line: the Leatherman Micra is basically a re-invented Swiss army knife. But, it is better and worse in several ways.

Good stuff

1) It is small, but not too small. I put my keys on it and carry it every place I go.
2) It is quite versatile given its size. It has scissors, tweezers, a knife, bottle opener, nail file, and some screwdrivers.
3) It is easy to use, for the most part. I'd say I use it about every other day for some task or another. Opening boxes, cutting string, fixing things in my car or computer, and so on.
4) Good for almost everyone. My father has one, I have one, and my younger brother has one. We all use the tool, but for different reasons. It is great for guys in the garage, housewives, librarians, and executives. It’s a well-rounded tool.

Bad stuff

1) There is no can opener. I need to use one about every other day. So, I still need to carry around my old Swiss army knife for some tasks.
2) It doesn't have pliers, argh! I could use these about once per week. Rather than having pliers, they decided to go with scissors. I like my scissors, I really do, but I sure do miss those pliers...
3) It could be a bit more durable. It is stainless steel, but it doesn't always feel as tough as I'd like. They hold up well, although one fellow I know broke his screwdriver.
4) The Leatherman Micra is meant to be used as a key chain of sorts. This is good because it is always handy. However, the keys get in the way big time. I have to be careful when the tool it is open and being used, especially the knife. One slip and the keys could get in the way and cause a horrible wound from the knife or scissors. If I plan on using the tool for several minutes, I remove the keys (which is easy enough to do).
