viper_010's Full Review: The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past for Game B...
Zelda:A Link to the Past. That pretty much sums it up.
Anyone who has played this game on the SNES knows how good of a game this really is. Now, for you youngin's who weren't born yet and haeven't played it, here is your chance. The amazingly entertaining classic has been transferred to the tiny, tiny version of the SNES, the GBA.
First, let's start with the Gameplay. What can I say, it is very simple. Anyone who hasn't played this yet (yeah, all two of you) will be able to pick this up right away and get the hang of the controls emediately. As for other aspects of gameplay, such as item managment and weapons, it is equally simple. Almost identical to the other Zelda games out there. You have your Item slot, a display of your weopons, Key items, armor, etc. If you've been living under a rock in the middle of the Sahara Desert and haven't ever played a Zelda game before, then you might be a little lost at first (for about ten minutes). Now, if you don't get the hang of it within' ten minutes, wait longer. If it takes you an hour, shoot yourself. Well, anyway, back to the review. As I mentioned before, pretty much everyone will get the hang of this game in no time. I give gameplay a 5/5.
Up next is the storyline. Here it is for you newcomers. You follow link as he attempts to rescue that overly-pampered damsil in distress, Princess Zelda. I just have one question for anyone out there who can answer it: How many times does she need to be captured anyway? I mean, you'd think she'd of got better body guards than 3-foot- tall mushroom men by now. Well, anyway, the one who has captured her is none other than the most annoying enemy in Nintendo history, Gannondorf. Yes, the bad itch that never goes away. Actually he's more like a hemroid. But, anyway, he has captured the princess in his ongoing effort to take over the world (which is pretty hard to do from just one castle). However, if you ignore all these stereotypes and look at the big picture, the storyline is actually quite good, and works well to keep the game together. I give it a 5/5.
Finally, we move to the graphics. Ah yes, the graphics. Once again we get to see Link waddle around with his moderately pixled body like a penguin with a stick up it's but. In all fairness, the graphics are state-of-the-art as far as the GBA is concerned. Very nice sword animations, background, etc. However, I always thought it was funny to see Link walk like a hyperactive robot. What's even funnier is seeing the enemies scramble after you like 20 cops after the last donut. Well, anyhow, I give the graphics a 5/5
This game is definately made for everyone. It one of the best Zelda Games ever made. More than comprable to the recent Wind Waker game that came out for the Gamecube. And definately entertaining enough to make you want to play it over, and over, and over until you collapse. I give A Link to the Past a 5/5.
