When it comes to the stranger and more unique characters in some of the Lego themes, you never really know how they are going to be received by fans. I was curious to see how the older Lego fanatics would deal with the inclusion of a character like Brick Daddy. Lego bills him out as a space criminal that is forever tormenting the Space Police with his illegal activities. Maybe we could slide the Slave Leia mini figure over from the Star Wars theme and start a little sideline business. Yes, Brick Daddy might just be one of the most daring Lego mini figures of the past five years. He certainly gives the Chrome limited editions from Star Wars a run for their money but is he really worth the asking price of $35.00. No. Not even close. Why? Why you ask? Bah, you'll have to keep reading.

Visually Brick Daddy is an awesome mini figure. The purple used for his clothing is stellar and let's face it; there aren't many male mini figures outside of Albus Dumbledore that can pull off wearing it. It's the little things that make Brick Daddy worth getting if you collect the mini figures. On the front you have a nice open jacket design with some kind of an animal print scheme and the skull necklace is a sweet touch. On the back there isn't much detail but it is enough to give him a good look if you have him posed in the Lunar Limo or with other meanies from the Space Police theme. If you are buying this individually chances are you are not going to get his weapon or his mini transport with it; those are nice things that you get with the set but not many resellers are going to have it listed that way.

The hat is another awesome perk to the character; it gives him a great look and is a rarity to find in this color. Having black hand pegs gives him a more sinister look but it is the face peg that steals the show. The eyes have a nice slant to them and there are red pupils but it’s the kraken like face with jagged jawline that really makes him the meanest of them all. Early sets had pegs that did not glow in the dark; from what people have said about it, that was corrected. The glow from it isn't all that powerful unless you take the hat off to charge it. Even so, this is an excellent addition to the Space Police character line up and something that any Lego mini figure collector would love to get as a gift. One of the coolest things about Brick Daddy is when you see him from the back; there is a scalloped neckline that carries over from the front 'tentacles' [for lack of a better term for the detail of him].

So far the only set to have Brick Daddy in it is the Lunar Limo. That sells for about thirty dollars and comes with two other characters; if you are looking online for Brick Daddy as a solo figure you are going to be shocked to see the prices people are asking for him. Suffice it to say, if you can't find one at a reasonable price you are better off getting the Lunar Limo set and selling off what you don't want. The set itself is choice and the vehicle is easy to build but there are so many things that you can do with it. The downside is that the pieces for this are stickered not stenciled. In a way that's cool because if you want to use the black pieces for another build you aren't locked in to using them for a specific build. Leave the stickers off if you aren't sure of whether or not you want to keep the Lunar Limo or use the elements for something else.

The most popular mini figures from the third series of the Lego Space theme include the following characters: Frenzy, Squidman, Female Officer, Kranxx, Skull Twin, Rench, Squidtron, Snake, Slizer, Droid Officer, Jawson, Brick Daddy and Craniac. There are also about thirteen different versions of Space Police officers in various sets in the theme. There are only minor differences to some but there are a few that truly stand out from others. Since Brick Daddy has a lot of stenciled detail on the torso you are going to want to make sure that when he is not on display he is stored properly so you can keep him looking as sweet and cool as he is when you first bust him out of the Lunar Limo box.
