| JediKermit's Full Review: Lego Catwoman™ Minifigure Magnet Set |
Remember in the Adam West Batman television series, when Batman and Robin would walking up the side of a building? And then a window would open up and some kind of movie star would have a brief cameo? People like Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Jackie Gleason and others would pop out, say "what the heck was that?"
Now you can reenact those stories using the side of your refrigerator, a filing cabinet, white board, or other steel surfaces with the Batman LEGO magnet sets. The LEGO sets are only available online and at LEGO stores, but they're worth the effort to hunt them down. They're basically minifigures with powerful magnets implanted in their legs, so they can "stand," sit, or lie down on metal surfaces. The magnets are deep enough that you can still use them as standard minifigures, but are close enough to the toy's surface that the magnets adhere even through several layers of paper or pictures.
Robin
Up until now, Robin was only available in the very costly Batcave LEGO set, so it's nice to have this "spare." He's got a swoop of hair that comes down over one eye of his domino mask, and is wearing the modern version of the Robin costume--long tights, not short pants. He's got a long yellow cloth cape, and the cape is removeable.
Joker
Joker is as iconic as it gets, with crazy green hair, a crazy white face, and a sinister red grin. He's got his signature purple suit and orange vest, and even has a tiny flower that probably squirts acid. Joker was also a figure only available in an expensive LEGO set, so getting him here was a nice treat.
Catwoman
This version of Catwoman owes a lot to the current comic book version. She's still in her classic black leather look, but not quite as sleazy as Michelle Pfeiffer's delightful costume...which is a shame. She's got silver highlights on her costume, like her belt buckle and zipper, and her smile peeks wryly out from underneath her cat mask.
These would be more fun with simple accessories, like a Batarang for Robin, or a gimmicky gun for Joker, or a whip for Catwoman. But as they are, they're a wonderful set of useful toys for a good price. After seeing how much fun the Batman Magnets were, I picked up all three of the Batman sets. I probably won't expand into the Star Wars and other licensed LEGO magnets--but the Batman magnets are pretty sweet.
