I have done Lego's since I was kid (in the 70's) and now that I have a son of my own, we've gotten back into the Lego Building.
He got this set for Christmas from his Aunt and Uncle who live by LegoLand in California and talk about it all the time, so my son was very eager to build the set.
There are 5 main parts to build, three parts to the fire house, and 2 fire trucks.
The Trucks were relatively easy to build, Lego has come a long way with instructions but could do a little better on color detail. There were several light and dark grey blocks in this kit, and the instructions didn't show them well, we had to use the box lid as a guide on several occasions.
We spent a little over 2 hours on assembly, and it only took about 3 hours of play before I had to break out the instructions again to put parts back where they belong.
The fire house has functional sliding doors, and garage doors that roll into the roof (what a cool feature), the tools were very realistic, and the trucks roll and assemble very well.
My son has the fire house sitting on a table now, and enjoys playing with the set quite often (when he's not playing with the pirate ships he has as well.)
A great toy from LEGO - lots of small parts but still fine for kids that understand about the choking hazards with legos.
