Pros: Nice looking figure, lots of design options, clearance price.
Cons: Requires purchasing additional Galidor figures to create designs featured on the package.
The Bottom Line: The falling retail price of the figures in the Galidor series is a good indication that it's on its way out. Snap these up while you can!

| Freak369's Full Review: Lego Galidor Allegra |
Allegra is the only female character in the Lego Galidor line up so you might expect her to have a few more perks and accessories than the others. Outside of Keewop, a small alien like creature she has to face her battles using only her extensive knowledge of martial arts. With the exception of Nick Bluetooth and Allegra, all of the other figures in the Galidor line are aliens or robots this leaves the two humans a limited number of limbs that can be swapped around. Even with the limited number of human pieces, the limbs and accessories of the aliens and robots can easily be adapted for use with either Nick or Allegra. This is great for boosting the replay value of the figures within the series but it also means that you will have to purchase other figures to keep the action rolling right along.
Allegra
Allegra stand an impressive nine inches tall, features a red sleeveless t-shirt and blue baggy pants. Her faux black hair is pulled back into a pony tail and not removable from her head. Visually she is a very nice looking doll that is basic but very functional. The movable joints include neck, shoulders, right elbow [the left elbow has limited movement], hips, knees and ankles. Getting her to stand erect without falling over isnt hard but it does take a little bit of time to get her balanced correctly. The fact that the left elbow joint only has limited movement makes it a bit more difficult to balance her as well as to have her stand with the other Galidor figures for display purposes.
The blue baggy pants feature a ammunition belt around her waist, two small side pockets on the outer portion of her thighs and a grayish stripe on the knee ball joint. If this really bothers you you can take a permanent marker and color over the stripe of the ball joint. Her red t-shirt is sleeveless and shows the ball joints on the shoulder. The two elbow protectors are black and non removable and help to hide the joint assembly of the elbow. The elbow sections dont have a lot of freedom and in my opinion are extremely hard to move around. This might be why Allegra didnt come with any accessories it would be too hard to get them into place.
Allegra comes with both hands in an open grip position so she can hold on to accessories that come with other figures. One interesting point worth mentioning are the two silver wrist bands [non removable] one is standard decorative bracelet but the one on her left hand has a nice little communicator module. While there isnt a tremendous amount of detail to the communicator, it is a nice touch. It would have been nice to see this figure come with some type of computer related accessory since she is supposed to be the one in charge of all the computer related operations when they fight the evil Gorm.
Keewop
I had a hard time getting this small little creature assembled and since there are no instructions on how to properly build him I had to sit there and play around with him until I managed to get his head into the front part of the body. Keewop is about three inches long and three inches high that is if you have his head in an erect position. Theres a limited range of motion with his head and it can be turned side to side or up and down. Turn it too far to the left or right and it will fall out of the hole. You should hear a nice loud snap when you push his head into place so keep forcing it into the hole until you hear that sound. The only other point of movement is his orange tail that rotates. This comes already attached to his body and is not removable. Outside of the head and tail, there are no other parts of his body that move which gives him a rather limited amount of replay value. Since there arent any other creatures this size within the Galidor line you are pretty much stuck with using the provided head with his body.
Things To Know
As I found out the hard way, you really have to make sure that the legs to the Galidor figures are pushed in firmly. If not, youll find that they fall apart easily and youll be searching high and low for missing pieces. There is a nice range of motion for the limbs however Allegras left arm / elbow joint will not fully extend. This makes it hard to have the figure stand along side the others in the series so if you are planning on displaying the figures make sure you have a little extra room for her left arm.
A few of the limbs are affixed to the cardboard packaging with small clear rubber bands. Make sure that these are collected and disposed of properly or they could be gobbled up by small children. One of the dogs found a small pile of these when the boys were unwrapping them and taking them out of the boxes and managed to get one of the rubber bands stuck in his mouth. Not exactly a major crisis but it could have been a lot worse if it had been a child instead of a dog.
Be sure to check out the small fold out insert that comes with this figure. It shows other alternative design options for the Galidor figures as well as a small overview of the other figures. On the reverse side is a nice poster of Nick Bluetooth, Allegra and the other figures in the series. Since this is packaged at the bottom of the hard plastic case it is a little hard to remove without ripping it.
The Bottom Line
Since these were on sale at Wal-Mart I couldnt pass them up. My boys received several of the Galidor figures for Christmas so I got to keep the ones I purchased in mint condition. Overall the figure is nice and fairly easy to assemble but you really have to make sure that you get the arm and leg pieces pushed firmly into place. My only two complaints with this Galidor figure would be the left arm that doesnt fully extend and the fact that there are no accessories. Lego really seems to push the fact that this doll is over 8 1/2 inches high wow a full 9 inches. She is almost the exact same size as Nick Bluetooth, which makes them a nice looking couple.
