| pablothegreat's Full Review: Lego Magazine |
We have been getting this magazine for years. I had signed my daughter up for the Lego Club and was surprised that a magazine subscription came with it. You too can get a free subscription by joining the Lego Club at http://club1.lego.com/en-US/legomagazine/default.aspx or filling out the card that comes with your newly purchased Lego products. Children do need a parent's permission/signature to sign up. If you live in any of these countries Austria ,Canada,Switzerland,Germany ,Ireland,Netherlands,Sweden ,United Kingdom, and the United States you are able to get a free subscription. Only two free subscriptions can be ordered per family or household.
The current issue has Indiana JonesTM in a new comic strip which kids will love. That is not all! Plus get a look at the newest LEGO Speed RacerTM sets, see a sneak preview of LEGO Agents, and get exclusive Mars Mission web codes! Kids who are Lego addicts will love the large detailed color illustrations of the newest Lego toys on the market. No advertisements for anything not Lego! You will see the specs, age recommendations, and cost for each Lego toy. The magazine pages are slick and shiny. At times the magazine has fewer pages but comes in a sealed plastic bag with free Bionicles magazine and/or Bionicles trading cards. For almost a year, every Lego magazine had Bionicles magazines & trading cards in it!
Of course seeing all of those Lego creations is neat for kids and will give them lots of new ideas to create the sculptures pictured! Sometimes children can send in their own Lego creations (pictures) for sweepstakes and contests. My daughter has won one contest so far but that was a non-creation contest, I do not remember exactly what kind of contest that was! Her prize was a small Lego set, very cute! She was so excited to have won a contest and carried her prize around for days. This magazine does have games or mazes at times. The current issue has hidden pictures on the cover for the child to hunt down! There is nothing in it that is not child friendly, this is a safe choice for younger kids.. No junk food advertisements or high priced electronic advertisements like for the Wii.
This is the OFFICIAL Lego Magazine. Families see new Lego products before they are on the market. You won't find many in each issue but some special offers for Clubmembers in the magazine.Over the years we have received this magazine at different times....sometimes monthly January and sometimes the issue is for two months: March/April. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for when they come so you can't expect it each month on the 15th. Many of the issues seem to be concentrated on one style of Lego product: Lego Racer, Bionicle, Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, Dino Attack, and others.
Once signed up for this free Lego Magazine, we have never received any other advertisements or junk mail. If your kids are not that into Lego products, you may find the magazine a little too full of newer Lego product pictures and ads. Still you can't beat free. Also your children can go online to the Lego Club website http://club.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx and find more Lego games to play and contests to enter. This is free as well. More Lego creations are featured on the site!
If you are short on imagination and can't seem to figure out what else you can build with Legos, this free magazine is a great place to find creative ideas! Next best thing to Legoland!
