Yeah, that was the one. (After we'd managed to get all the mini-kit pieces adn the red brick, it was so annoying!!) Seems that unlike some games, the PC and console versions are basically identical.

"force field that should now be open remain stubbornly shut" did that happen in the Battle of Endor level?
I got the PS2 version and the final force field wouldn't open. I had to retry the level to get it working.
