Pros: Large, grandiose. Full set of mini-figs. It IS the Falcon.
Cons: Slightly fragile, weird detail additions/omissions, price...
The Bottom Line: If you are a hard core Star Wars Lego collector, you'll probably want one. If you want a toy, you may want to skip it.

| Mr_D's Full Review: Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon (Tm) |
This set was released back in 2000 as part of the 2nd series of Star Wars Legos. It originally retailed for 99.99, contains 659 pieces and a complement of 6 Mini-Figs, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke, C3-P0 and R2-D2, as well as an exclusive Princess Leia mini-fig (A large part of the set's value is this mini-fig).
As of the writing of this (2003), these sets - even opened and built once, can fetch $200 or more on Ebay. So if you are a serious Star Wars Lego collector, this may truly be the crown jewel in your collection, and they are increasingly becoming more difficult to locate. Mine had been sitting in box for about a year and a half before I decided I had the evening to open it up and stick it together.
But is the set any good, that's the real question. And the answer is a resounding, "Sort-of". Because of the size and complexity of the model, clearly this could be a little tough on the younger lego builder. I was watching a playoff hockey game when I built it, and I'd say it took me about the whole game. 3-3.5 hours. There are lots and lots of pieces, and many smaller individual ones that took some sifting to locate.
For hardcore star wars fans, there are glaring errors in the ships layout, for example - No way to get from the cockpit to the main compartment. No way to get out of the cockpit at all, except for opening up and taking the pilot out. More annoying than that is that the cockpit only really holds one mini-fig, so you can't put Han and Chewie in there together.
Other than that, some nice details are there. The "roof" comes off to reveal the interior, including the Djarik hologameboard (The game Chewie and 3-PO play in A New Hope), there are smuggling compartments of some sort, and there are some tools for those repairs that need to be made, but there are also a couple strange editions, like a weird little escape pod and a seemingly random control panel. I thought a Remote would have been a nice touch.
The outside of the ship does look pretty nice, complete with satellite dish and quad cannon on the top (though no cannon down below) The cockpit always seems to look a little out of place though... And when it is all built, it is just a little unstable on the "landing gear" - If you aren't careful, one of the floor baseplates will push in, and it needs to be on a very flat surface.
So when all is said and done, the Falcon IS Big. It is grandiose, and it IS the falcon, but it is far from perfect. And due to the fragility and the size of it, it makes tough to actually play with, so it is more suited to sitting on a shelf. It is the crown jewel of the collection, but it's a jewel that many collectors may decide they do not need. However, if rarity and value are what you are looking for, as well as cool Mini-figs, this could be the set for you.
