| Verbarg's Full Review: Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon (Tm) |
I bought the Millennium Falcon LEGO set for my 8 year old son. He has been playing with LEGO's since he was a baby. (the larger ones, of course) I had not bought him a LEGO set with so many pieces prior to this purchase. Prior to this set he had a smaller LEGO set with fewer pieces and he was easily frustrated.
At first, this toy seemed very overwhelming for my son. So many pieces, a large book of step by step directions, etc. But, once my husband sat down with my son and "showed him the ropes" he was on his way! In fact, once he started he realized that LEGO had left out two pieces and he went to dig thru his Dad's old LEGO pieces from yesteryear. He had the Millennium Falcon built in 2 days and has already taken it apart to put it back together again.
I believe that this toy is particularly useful in teaching children how to follow step by step directions. I do not agree with LEGO's age requirement for this particular set. It is for ages 5 and up and I believe that it would only be suitable for a 5-year-old who really knew how to read well and follow step-by-step directions. I think this set would be better suited for ages 7 and up.
