xyzwyatt's Full Review: Leslie Sansone - Walk Slim: 4 Fast Miles!
Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie''s plot.
This workout incorporates interval training which is known to be very effective for weight loss. Intervals means that for a certain amount of time we are walking at a normal pace and for about 2 to 3 minutes we speed up to a very fast pace which is commonly recognized as jogging. Jogging is considered high impact aerobics whereas walking would be considered low impact.
This workout is counted in minutes rather than miles. The count down clock appears on the screen once in awhile to let you know how much longer the walk will be.
Intensity I got a really good workout but I pretty much checked out by the end of mile three. I was tired from the workout thus far and was ready to get back to things that I needed to get done for the day. The last mile is very slow and felt more like a cool down to me. I think in the future I'll put more effort in the first three miles and skip the last mile.
Setting Leslie brought a younger crew to workout with this time. She had her daughter, niece and their college friends. There were two male trainers from the gym and Kim, one of Leslie's friends. In the last mile Leslie introduced us in detail to each of the walkers. I got the impression that this workout was made for them, not for us as a viewer.
Leslie is performing in their new studio which looks nice. There's a wood floor and black curtains in the background. The participants are dressed in teals or aqua color tops and everyone is wearing black pants. For some reason they were bunched together more than usual.
Unlock previous videos, this video shows the camera filming. It was odd and a little distracting. One of the better improvements of this workout is the new music. The cuing is right in this workout and the beats matched the pace which is a feat considering the amount of songs and the amount of times we changed the pace.
Recommendations Leslie recommends drinking water 30 minutes before the workout so that your body is prepared. Everyone was sweating on the stage. I broke a little bit of a sweat, which is more than I usually do for a traditional Leslie Sansone walk.
I would never discourage a person from trying one of Leslie's workouts due to complexity, anyone could do it. However, there's A LOT of jogging in this workout. I would consider this an intermediate workout.
Had I known that this was a jogging workout I probably would not have gotten it because I find jogging uncomfortable. Also, had I know in advance that I would be doing high impact aerobics I would have chosen a sports top to wear.
Second CD This DVD comes with a second DVD. There is a 1 mile jog with just Leslie. I tried doing this but didn't make it all the way through the mile. I felt like I was just hopping in place and I was getting a headache from my eyes trying to adjust to watching Leslie jumping around on screen while I was moving around. I also prefer the group run over the one-on-one. It has the same background music and Leslie says pretty much the same things that she does in the regular workout.
There is also a floor routine on the second DVD which requires the viewer to be on the floor and use resistance bands. The purpose is to strengthen the muscles that are used for walking and jogging.
Overall I have done so many of Leslie's walking tapes. This one definitely offers something unique (jogging intervals) that the other walks don't. The workout is also a little more challenging so it would take more viewings before I would tell myself that it's a waste of time. If you enjoy jogging, I think this would be a good workout for the $15. It's updated and refreshing.
