| DiamondDave's Full Review: Light-Up Baby Ball |
This was one of my son's first toys. Before he was really moving on his own, he was enthralled by the lights and the music. As he got older, he learned that he could move the ball, and when a button was pressed by the floor, the sound and lights would activate. Eventually he learned to press the buttons deliberately, and enjoyed making the ball talk.
The baby ball, not to be confused with Happy Fun Ball, from SNL fame, features several character buttons, including a male and a female waving, a kitten, a puppy, a bunny and others. By pressing the buttons the ball either says something related, like "Hello" or "Bye-Bye" or "Bunny" or whatever, or it plays a different song for each button, depending on how the ball is set. There is also a volume switch for loud or less loud.
We've had the ball for about 17 months now, and have not changed the batters yet, despite quite a bit of use.
One downside that we've noticed about the ball, and has prompted us to call it "Psycho Ball" is that if you leave it unattended, but on for a long period of time, it may spring to life at will. Let me tell you this can scare the bejeezus out of you the first couple of times. You'll quickly learn to turn the switch to off when you're not using it.
This is a simple, yet interesting toy that should entertain your youngster for quite a while, even with its schizophrenic tendencies
