chint's Full Review: Linksys Ultra RangePlus WRT160N Wireless Router
I live in a small NYC apartment and this wireless router has worked out great so far. I have a Dell desktop wired into the router and a Mac book accessing it wirelessly. I tested this by running online gaming, QuickTime movie trailers, and Youtube simultaneously on both machines and the speed was great. Being that I am in a small apartment, I have not had any issues with signal strength anywhere in the apartment. If your browsing and networking needs consist of activities to this extent, this router works out great.
Initially I had my eyes set on the Belkin N+ but as I did more reading and spoke to tech support at various stores, I found that I didn’t need something that advanced. I can’t say that I will utilize the dual band function, nor do I have a need for the USB port (i.e. to say hook up your PS3 or external hard drive) so I didn’t need that either. The Best Buy sales person also said that the Linksys would work better with Time Warner (my internet provider); not sure how true that is but I didn’t see why he would just make that up. Best buy also had this on sale for $69.99 so when compared to the $115 price tag for the Belkin N+, the Linksys was an obvious choice. You may even be able to get this cheaper online, but I had a Best Buy gift card to use.
