Pros: Cheap, portable, nice minty tingle if you're into that.
Cons: Cap/display colors aren't what you get on your lips or even in the tube.
The Bottom Line: Colors advertised are midleading. Test it first out if possible (on ur hand, of course). Good if you are looking for that "just ate a cherry icee" look.
joisme's Full Review: Lip Shimmers Merlot Color 09
I bought two lip shimmers last week since they were on sale at Walgreens. I chose the Merlot since it was the deepest red, figuring it will leave a slight tint of deep burgundy. Now I love glosses and tints (I usually use Chanel, Nars, or Lancome), and heard that this was a nice inexpensive tint for a quick fix (it does not last long, and will transfer easily, esp when eating hot foods).
When I applied the color for the first time, it was BRIGHT... as in a BRIGHT DARK PINK rather than a shimmery deep red. If it adds to the review, I'm Asian with light complexion and dark hair. I can best describe it as the color I would get if I ate 2 cherry ice pops. It is definitely sheer, but I was hoping for a color closer to the deepness (not darkness) of the cap color. Seems like a lot of the reviews re: cap color follows similarly. My other Asian friends have had similar experiences with the color.
The lipshimmer felt nice. Very smooth, and I happened to like the little tingle the peppermint oil offered. Keep in mind that it does not last long, and leave more of a stain than overall coverage.
